273 The Cousins Quarrel (1/2)
According to their off time, they should be relented to leave for home but they were stuck here working with speed like they were running marathons for their lives. Their Boss hasn't been in the best of moods for almost a month now and nobody wanted to face the Demon King just yet.
He was cold and his office ceiling was forming glaciers because of the Antarctic waves he was emanating. They had all been curious to know who was the martyr, brave enough to have angered their Boss to this degree but they all cherished their lives very much to risk asking...
The slightest of mistake could cause you more than your job in the multi-national corporate these days when his mood was outright on the verge of going for a killing spree.
From the first to the topmost floor, everything was run over by a tornado sending everyone in motion to be on their feet and on their way. The furious typing sounds, pages flipping, along with the receiver ringing voices had taken over the whole building.
The CEO's assistant Jiang Cheng who had been away for about months had caused the real turmoil detained from the roots to the branches, everything was reevaluated from the times he was absent.
Thus the overtime and their Boss who was working like a man on steroids had them all on their toes. The named Boss was hollering orders of his own.
Everything breathing and moving around him was getting on his nerves. He was ready to break something but he had broken a lot of things already, none of them bringing any peace to his wretched soul.
He was furious at his fate. He was envious and his pride was dainty. He wanted one woman and she couldn't be his because he gave her the power to walk away. He should have her locked in his bedroom but he couldn't do it to the doe-eyed beauty.
She was too innocent to face anything as such and now she was too free. Freer than he would ever like her to be. This free that other men were allowed to gawk at the beauty that only he should.
He could cage her, she was hopping around in the city under his thumb but...he didn't want to. He couldn't bring himself to see the hurt that will be on her face.
”Is that what your department approved of?” He eyed the first file of the proposition heightening his already livid temper.
The four-year construction plan for the new tourist site was hilarious. The place was unfavorable to have visitors that too international tourists they were targetting. The place was rich in its view but that was it to it.
The planning department Head sweated and stuttered, ”Sir, this…”
Yu Youhan threw the file at him as he coldly gave his sentence, ”You are fired!”
The man looked crestfallen but bowed his head and left. Jiang Cheng replaced the piles of files with the prepositions analyzed by him personally.
Either their ex-department Head was slacking or he had taken bribes to push forward such a trashy proposition. Both of which were not of importance as was not the person, anymore.
He saw Jiang Cheng leaving figure and could tell there was something that seemed to have clicked in his behavior.
When he came here in the morning he was literally dragging his body, moping all the way. He was tense and depressed but right now he almost looked...jolly. Maybe it was the change of environment that had changed his mental state or maybe he was coming to terms with Lei Xinyi's death.
But was she really dead…?
He had reasons to believe she wasn't!
He opened the file and started going through it when his phone rang. He frowned and glanced at his phone screen.
He halted for a moment. It had Li Yuan's name flashing over it.
The man since his child and the mother of his child was lost hadn't been out of his cocoon. The destruction he had caused in her search was devastating. He was going insane looking for something that wasn't for him to begin with...
”What?” He wanted to mellow his tone a little but it came out cold as usual.
He didn't have sympathy or compassion to offer, all he could offer was tolerance and that is what his cousin was getting today if he wasn't planning to get on his nerves that was.
There was no formal greeting or small talk. The man on the other side commanded power as he did, ”I want your hounds off my woman back.” Li Yuan's voice was anything but reflecting a request or a deal.
Yu Youhan sneered in the mock of it all, ”Your woman!” He could hear the humor it had to it.
