207 Eternal Silence (1/2)

He saw silent forgiveness in her eyes accompanied by understanding overpowering her plea for life. There wasn't a speck of hatred or anger in her eyes, just stillness. Acceptance.

It was involuntary but it was like his body didn't want to do the deed for him. She was looking in his eyes like seeing something she wanted to for the last time.

Her tears were streaming down but she was staring at him without blinking. His hand shivered as his heart went erratic and restless.

He at once had a glimpse of a familiar scene from the past. He was laying injured to the point no part of his body was left not battered on a heap of hay and Lei Xinyi stood above him with a gun pointed on his head.

The look in her eyes could give nightmares. It was no hatred, rage, blood lust that fueled it. It was emptiness, no recognition of life like she didn't care what she was going to ruin was fertile once, like what she was going to kill wasn't alive once. Her eyes held no remorse, guilt or anger like she couldn't even recognize the value of life or volume of death.

He had the same understanding then, the same forgiveness. She wasn't killing him, she was setting him free.

He huffed out a frustrated breath, closed his eyes and shot three times in a row.

'SHOOT! SHOOT! SHOOT!'

An eternal silence descended then still in the moment of all the forest like they were mourning.

Su Qianwei stared at him in shock and disbelief. He had shot all the bullets by her head, missing her head by a millimetre.

”Why?” she whispered in a parched voice, not even believing she could still.

Yu Wang who was glaring at the wooden floor that had holes by the bullets he fired, turned to her sharply with eyes filled with blazing rage at himself.

”Don't make me regret it. I don't deal well with regret.” He spat with a clenched jaw and threw the empty pistol on the other end of the room. He left the room without answering her.

Lu Xinyi plucked the cherry from the plant in her balcony garden. She put it in her mouth and moaned at the deliciousness of the sweet and sour tango.

Her Condominium was nothing very luxurious but it was more than comfortable. It was a two-storey, perfect for a couple to live in. An airy and cosy home it was.

She had a small gym which she wasn't going to use, a mini home theatre, a big kitchen, a small library stocked with all her favourite novels, a small living room that was set with red oak furniture, and even her personal balcony garden!

Previously it had two bedrooms but because she was going to be the only resident here so she made it into a home office and her study.

The breakup, if you could call it, with Yu Youhan had been messy. He didn't even bother seeing her off, in fact, he left the Mansion that very night they fought and then never returned.

Childish! And people called her spoilt!

She hit his phone a couple of times but he wouldn't respond or maybe he had blocked her number.
