Master Lu eyes narrowed, and he sceptically asked, ”You let an unknown young woman recover from coma and amnesia in your Mansion. And you did all that out of goodwill?”
There was no charity as such and nor was Yu Youhan a saint to help every injured he rescue on the street.
When said out loud, it looked too good to be true and obviously suspicious, ”No, she resembled the girl in the photo and we needed her.”
Nobody except the Yu Family knew about the incident of the stolen heirloom. It would be a piece of breaking news and there was no way he was telling them. Apart it was only a whimsical decision to bring her to his Mansion. Nothing to do with the heirloom or Lei Xinyi.
”A murderer?”
Yu Youhan raised his eyebrow and lifted his lips in a half-smirk mockingly, ”I don't see how it is anyone business here.”
This earned him an elbow in his rib. He looked down to see his spitfire glaring at him. She didn't like him disrespecting or ridiculing her father, their personal issue was family business!
A pleasant smirk appeared on his stoic, hard face. He looked back at her father with the smirk bestowed to him by his daughter, ”What I meant to say was that it is confidential, Mr Lu.”
Their little interaction and change of demeanour weren't unseen by the people present. The Young Master Yu was fond of the girl and in no way subtle about it!
Old Master Li kept the photos on the table and looked up at the young couple. Before anybody could have assumed the position to be a protective stance but now if he looked closely he could see the closeness and... familiarity.
He banged his cane on the red oak floor and let out a chuckle, ”Your Paternal Grandfather and Father...Do they know you are messing around with your sister-in-law?”
The smile on Yu Youhan face disappeared without a trace and his eyes hardened, at the mention of her being his sister-in-law, ”Last I checked, my sister-in-law, was pregnant.”
A fight between these two dear grandsons over a girl would have been amusing and thrilling. Alas! His other grandson had knocked up the other girl and she was far more valuable.
Master Lu saw how things were accelerating and getting heated and it was certainly about his daughter. When the fire burns on both sides he didn't want his flower to wither or take a burn.
Old Master Li was surely trying to use his daughter as a bait for catching a big fish like Yu Youahn but he couldn't allow his daughter who had already been away for months to be caught in a wildfire!
He took a step forward and held Lu Xinyi arm, and passed a formal business-like smile to the Young man, ”I can't thank you enough to have kept my daughter safe and help her recover. Now we would like to take our leave.”
Yu Youhan sharp eyes turned to him, then he looked at the hand on Lu Xinyi's arm. He kept his hand above it to remove it, ”We are leaving too.”
Master Lu pretentious smile disappeared and his jaw hardened, the hand on Lu Xinyi's arm tightened and he spat through gritted teeth, ”I meant with my daughter!”
