Li Yuan let out a dramatic sigh, as he led her to the sofa in his office and then said with sham sincerity, in his deep masculine voice ”I am really sorry Lu Xinyi. I never thought this will be how my meeting with the woman who haunts my dream will be like. I promise to make it up to you.”

Lei Xinyi felt scared of the man in front of her. His decency was creepy.

The man was the slayer of hundreds and a cold-blooded murderer. She had seen this man crave bloodlust.

Those who stood against him dreaded the day they were born.

He was too much like Yu Youhan. But Lei Xinyi had only seen Yu Youhan once face to face from afar but here she was in the arms of a beast, who could kill her with his bare hands.

Every passing second was scaring Lei Xinyi.

His indifference to her was expected because it was well known in their society that he didn't like his fiancé but why was he acting too chivalrous? Is it his some kind of trick? Did he get to know that I am not Lu Xinyi? But why would he act nice then?

Lei Xinyi passed him a curt hesitant smile, and said bashfully in a doubtful voice, ”Ahh… That's Okay. I think I should just head to my Station to… know about my job.”

A look passed Li Yuan eyes before he gave a smile, ”Stay for lunch, and then we can discuss all about your job.”

Lei Xinyi tried to smile then slid away on the sofa creating a little distance between them, ”Yeah… It's Okay…. I mean let's do it like that then. Hehe.”

Although it was a long time in lunch, she didn't argue but sat there as Li Yuan stood from there excusing himself for some 'urgent' work he had to get back to.

Ji Zhou went back to resume his work, knowing well the reason for his Master wanting the girl to stay.

Lei Xinyi sat on the sofa erect and alert, leaning forward as if ready to run for the hills any moment.

She pretended to scroll through her phone while all her attention was on the voices in the room, for anything that could be a sign of a threat.

Li Yuan looked at Lei Xinyi with squinted eyes, without stopping typing. The girl was in a defensive position not relaxing for a second as if she could be executed any moment now.

The girl didn't know anything about him that was for sure, her father made sure she only knew the flowers without hurting by thorns or bees.

A naïve girl is usually nervous or confused sitting in a man's office that they didn't know but Li Yuan could read people with his eyes closed and this was definitely not nervousness but….. Fear.

What is wrong with her? What did she do to be afraid? Did she know anything about him? Did he scare her?
