139 Chapter 136: (1/2)
After I stood up from the bed and got checked out of the infirmary, we decided to head over back to the dorm room but I can feel a sense of shame and guilt coming from my gut. I turned to look at Lawrence who has his poker face on. He looks visibly upset and I think I know why...
”Never do that again.” He muttered out, catching me off guard.
”Ack?! Wha?” I blurted out. Backing away in shock.
”You must be wondering why I'm upset right? I can see it from your face. You are just so easy to read Celestina.” He grunted under his breath. ”Well, I'm upset because you ran off without telling me anything and I had to go ahead and look for you. How childish could you be?” He proceeded to give me an earful.
I knew it, the moment he found me, he's ready to give me the biggest scolding of the century, he's bossier than my own parents but I guess, I don't really have the right to complain or anything, I mean I did do it. I should be responsible for it.
”Sorry Lawrence. I guess I got a little upset and went off on my own. I hope you can forgive me. I'll never do it again.” I apologized to Lawrence, making him stop from the scolding before finally he rolls his eyes. ”Well, you won't have a chance to do that again because the next time you do, I'll drag you back home myself.”
I just frowned and remained quiet. No point in trying to think of a rebuttal when I'm asking for forgiveness. We then continued to walk back to our dorm room, where we could see the group of students partying heading home or to their dorms already. Seems like I've been out for quite a while...
”Thanks for looking for me by the way. I admit, I did act like a child, tantruming, and then just running off like that. I shouldn't have done that.” I pleaded once again.
He then smiled. ”I'm just glad you're safe. You know, we were so worried about you especially finding out that someone spiked your drink. You could have been a victim of something horrible you know? Good thing, Diana and Cypress found you before something happened.”
”It still surprises me that something like that happened?” I scratched my head. ”I mean these things aren't in my books at all. I never heard of something like that..”
”Well, it's because the books you read are fictional. There's a happily ever after in each end but that's not really how life works. There will always be people that are going to be after us. People that will try to harm us.” Lawrence explained.
”Let's see.. we have those guys that tried to drug me and that serial killer you mentioned that's lurking around the campus right now. Those are the people that are trying to cause harm to us right?” I elaborated, presenting the things I know.
POV: Lawrence Harrington.
”So..” Lawrence leaned in to initiate a conversation. ”What do you think about the first day of school? Did you enjoy yourself? Are you sure you still want to stay here? Can't we just come back to the castle now?”
”And come back to laying around in bed and taking those boring etiquette classes? No way! I don't want to come back there. Well not now at least. I promised them that I would become a better ruler when I come back to Aurora. If I come back there early, I'll just look like a quitter after I made that speech of how I'm going to use this school life as self-improvement for my future role as the Queen!” She denied my suggestion, thinking that what she's doing is for the best but I really beg to differ.
”You do realize that those things happened because you came here right? Aren't you a little bit scared or frightened? You did mention that there were these people that bullied you and started rumors about you. Also, there's literally a dangerous serial killer lurking around and there are a group of people that tried to spike you. You're not scared at all? That everyone is out to get you?” I tried to poke holes into her confidence. How can she be this fearless after all that happened?
”You really need to learn a lot more about life Lawrence” She chuckled. ”You do know that the president only needs 51% of the people to vote for him to stay in power. Meaning there could be at least 49% of people that want him or her gone. Though it's really up to the president if they let those people get to him or her.” She places her hand on her chest.
”When I become queen, there will be people that are going to be against me. People that will try to put my life in danger since the leader has the greatest risk with it comes to decisions so I don't think I'd be a worthy leader if something like this scares me.” She chuckled nonchalantly, giving me a mini heart attack.
