Chapter 645 - Stand-off (1/2)
Z claimed a commanding victory in less than five minutes.
The Cinder Pine’s ravaging branches dropped down lifelessly. Its broken tree crown was stuck inverted in the ground. Burning sparks on it began to extinguish rapidly.
The Cinder Pine had lost its life.
Qin Feng’s Floating City was hovering nearby when the giant Cinder Pine was killed. Energy from the pine dispersed in all directions and spread out to a large area. As a result, Qin Feng was able to absorb the scattered energy from the tree beast.
The seemingly endless energy helped to boost both Qin Feng’s physique and consciousness.
Under such circumstances, Qin Feng made another breakthrough—the C7 tier!
He never expected to evolve at this moment and had thus failed to withhold his aura. The sudden amplification of power filled the entire control room. Some of his subordinates were baffled as they looked at Qin Feng, while most were unable to raise their heads being pressured by the terrific force.
His presence was too daunting to most of the lower-tier gunners.
Without much delay, Qin Feng managed to retract his aura and stabilize it. The others looked up to him with great admiration.
As for why Qin Feng had gone up a sub-tier out of the blue, the gunners inside the control room reckoned he must have been enlightened after watching the battle between the Cinder Pine and the mysterious man. Such a phenomenon would happen every once in a while.
Only Qin Feng knew that this was thanks to his Absorption Ability. The power that gushed out from the Cinder Pine was simply too vast and had caught him by surprise.
Above the Cinder Pine, Z controlled the black wyvern to tear apart the remaining body of the Cinder Pine. He had found something in it.
It was a giant, semi-transparent crystal. Within the crystal, one could see magma swirling in a lively manner in it. This was, without question, the energy core of the beast.
After the Cinder Pine had been killed, the trunk burned for one last time and charred the entire tree. Branches were turned into ashes and carried away by the wind.
However, some of the branches emitted red radiance after being burned. They looked like scarlet jades.
Though this type of branch was not a lot relative to the once giant canopy, the amount was still pretty substantial. Z steered the wyvern around the trees and collected some of it, then hovered still in mid-air.
Apparently, he did not bring enough spatial rune equipment. That was the curb to every S-tier aptitude user. Even though one could bring multiple pieces of spatial equipment, there was still a limit to it.
Nevertheless, he seemed to have collected enough materials for his experimental use.
After that, the head of the black wyvern turned toward the Floating City.
Qin Feng had connected his consciousness to the connector of the city. Right now, he was the mind of the giant Floating City. Still, he felt an enormous pressure when staring at the wyvern.
Clang!
The cannons of the Floating City extended out and aimed at the wyvern.
However, Qin Feng had no confidence that such firepower was enough to defeat the wyvern.
That was why he chose not to fire recklessly. This was perhaps the tensest situation he had even been in since he was reborn.
Z raised his eyebrows. Instantaneously, his immense consciousness floated in and quickly locked onto Qin Feng.
On the screen, Z within the wyvern could be seen smirking.
The smirk could be a sign of contempt or compliment. They would never know because Z left immediately after that.
Qin Feng’s tensed body finally loosened up after the black wyvern disappeared on the horizon. He managed to escape safely because Hu San was around last time. He knew Hu San would not be here to protect him this time. Who knew what someone like Z was thinking? He could easily break his three years promise and capture Qin Feng right now.
Qin Feng understood that Z had left this time not because he was daunted by the Floating City, but he was honoring the promise he made to Hu San.
All in all, this ended well for Qin Feng.
“Stay alert!” Qin Feng ordered and went down to the battlefield with Bai Li.
The Cinder Pine’s death had affected the forest around the area too. The once dense forest had been burned away by the fire. The branches of the Cinder Pine were all over the place. The remains were still magnificent when gazed close up.
