63 Chapter 64. Right of Succession to the throne (1/2)
He was sure that the Empress would be happy seeing their son, slowly coming out of his shell and going back to his past self. Coming back to the Evan, when he was a kid. Turning into the person whom Alexander know.
Now, all he had to do was to give Evan a good insight on all the royal affairs and hand him the empire. Evan was already capable to handle the kingdom. He was mature now and intelligent enough, he knew how to and when to talk to anyone. Alexander can almost see a successful Emperor in him, despite being so young.
The aristocrats and the imperial faction officials were also instantly agreed for announcing Evan as the crown prince, reasoning there were only princesses left except for a prince who is still playing in a sandbox with the other children. Indirectly telling, Evan is the oldest and smartest among all his children.
Everything was going just as Alexander hoped and as he planned. He planned a path with great thoughts to make Evan as the next emperor and righteously made everything go as he thought making Evan to succeed the throne like a cake walk. His final goal was to make Evan the emperor to establish his reign and then he can rest in peace without any worries. Only a capable person can lead the empire and he was sure Evan is the only capable person among his children.
Evan almost, didnt have any opposition and Alexander was glad it was that way. He was proud, that nobody can stand against his strong son.
Alexander had to face a lot of resistance, when he was crowned as the crown prince and announced the as next heir to the Seazle throne. And the sudden, unexpected death of his father, who was the formal Emperor of the kingdom before Alexander took over the throne, didn't help in any way.
He was too young to take over the throne. He knew, he was capable more than anyone, but the officials didn't make it easy for him. Dirty politics were played. Plans were made to kill him. Every day waking alive felt like an achievement. Not a single place was felt a safe house. Even during sleep he had to stay alert. But, he raised above all the odds, to achieve his right. The right to succession. He was the righteous person for the throne and he couldn't give it up for his life. He need to take care of his people and continue the glory of the seazle kingdom.
That was the most painful path, he had ever walked on in his whole life. But, he wouldn't change anything about his life path. That painful path, gave him the most beautiful garden, he could only wish to have. So, he would happily, go through all of it again, if he were to encounter that beauty again in an heart beat.
In the case of Evan, he already proved his worth. He didn't give any of them a chance to let him down. He faced all of the officials and proved his worth and claimed his right.
When he would finally pass his responsibilities to his son then, he could wait peacefully for the moment, he can finally reunite with his beloved in the heavens.
He never wanted anything more than to do this quickly. But, everything has a right time and he was waiting for it. Waiting for his time. When all his tasks were all finally completed.
Alexander just stood there, thoughts all racing in his mind and his eyes glossed over a little. Reminiscing the memories was both happy and sad at the same time. His bittersweet memories, were what kept him going.
Evan just stood there. Watching his father's gloss over. He didn't knew, what was running through his father's mind. But, he knew one thing, he was sad and in need for comfort. He was also broken. Just like him.
Evan was aware, how much his father loved his mother. Her death shook both of them. They loved her the most. They coped with the pain, differently. But, the unfortunate thing, they did it separately, not together.
Pain of loosing of loved one should be cooped together. Otherwise, no matter how much you love them, the other would always seem too far away to be reached.
He loved his father. So much, very much. He was his favorite person, alive. He was a great role model, for him. He always taught him how to do things on his own and shared his wisdom. Never forced him. He never felt obligated to follow anything he didnt like.
Even though, Evan was distant from him. He never tried to force anything on him. Always respected his opinion.
Alexander Seazle was not only a great Emperor but, a great father to him. He never showed his emotions or gave his gratitude to his father but, he knew his father somehow, understood him.
The both father and son, loved each other immensely but, never knew how to reach out for each other. Their love was slowly, becoming the reason for the distance between them.
Alexander gazed into Evan's eyes and saw them glossed over. He exactly knew, what he was thinking and he was grateful to have son like him. Evan maybe insensitive and less expressive but, his feelings run very deep. He knows it. After all, he saw Evan since he was little baby.
