184 Why I Became A Contractor: Part 22 (1/2)

The music of the elevator played. Not that it was really necessary since both of us didn't prefer calm jazz music when we were racing against time. However, Echo seemed to be moving his body by a bit once when he heard the music.

The elevator didn't take too long until we arrived on the 15th floor. The room where our target was located was at room number 502th. We needed to find the room among a large number of rooms in this hotel room.

Echo opened the elevator and we immediately ran from it. We also had the feeling that the government agents from the other country were waiting for us. It didn't take us too long to figure that out once we saw someone using a t-shirt and a tactical rig came to us. He was holding a silenced AK-74M and aimed it at our direction. They were the Spetsnaz.

I pulled Echo to the nearby cover in hope that they hadn't seen us yet. However, I was wrong, their eyes were on our heads. Bullets started flying in the corridors of that apartment. The rifles that they were using weren't silenced so one gunshot was more than enough to attract the attention to the rest of the team.

”Banging!” Echo threw a flash any in the hallway to stun the Spetsnaz so both of us could walk past. The flashbang exploded and left the Spetsnaz stunned. I immediately peeked outside of the cover and aimed my SCAR-H at them.

The trigger was pulled and 7.62 bullets flew from the end of my rifle. The shots hit all of the targets and left them incapacitated or unconscious. I aimed at their shoulder which wasn't armored so they were only incapacitated, but not dead.

”We don't have much time.” Echo ran across the hallway while wishing that he found the room before the Spetsnaz did. However, finding the room among these rooms was quite an impossible feat to do, mainly because of the fact that most of the rooms looked the same and none of them had any distinctive difference. The number in front of the door wasn't helping either one it wasn't clear at all.

The gunfire and the shouts from that spetsnaz only made the condition worse. I couldn't decide what to do and neither Echo could. I needed to think rationally. What would I do if I got hunted by a bunch of government agents from other countries? Of course, I wouldn't be in my room.

That conclusion just made the whole thing harder since your target didn't have any dedicated position, not any means to track it down. Echo was shooting at those Spetsnaz that was in our way. Echo looked at the window of the apartment.

”Lima, snipers. Get down!” Echo shouted as he tackled me to the ground and we crawled together while being shot from two directions. That Spetsnaz accuracy was far better than an average grunt that they usually saw.

If not for the perks and the body armor, both of them would have died at this point. We crawled through the corridor of that apartment and shot the Spetsnaz that was in our way.

I had a good idea. Echo would run in the other direction while I would run forward. This should divide their attention. Echo agreed to that plan and we stood up while dodging the sight of the sniper. We ran in the opposite direction and the Spetsnaz attention was split.

There was a room that was being breached by the Spetsnaz. I threw a hand grenade at them and it exploded thus killing all of the Spetsnaz.

”Where the bloody hell are you VIP?” I shouted as I ran to that room. The room was empty and there was no sign of human ever entered that room before. However, if the Spetsnaz breached this room, this room should have a lead to our VIP.

I searched for that room. There was only a bed, an empty wardrobe, and an open bathroom. This paper was placed on a plate inside the dining room. I looked at the plate and I saw a number. The number was 809. I didn't know the meaning of the numbers, I wasn't Mason.

As a result, I needed to contact the Echo who might be located in the opposite direction of my location which could be a pain in the head. I pushed the transmitter that was attached to my clothes. We were in the same frequencies so there would not be any problem in contacting him.

”Echo, please come in. The VIP is in room 809.” I ran outside of the room while being chased by angry Spetsnaz. Echo immediately replied to me and told me to use the elevator to go to that location.
