Chapter 62 - 62 (1/2)
She sighed and nodded, knowing I was right.
”I'll talk to him tonight when we go to the club. Jordan really doesn't want me to go yet I refuse to let him leave me behind.”
”Ooh, ooh, I wanna go!” I said excitedly.
I was anxious to get more familiar with the place knowing Reed was going to want to take me there one of these days.
Lizzie looked hesitant for a moment. ”I'm not really sure that's a good idea that you go there without Reed.”
”Oh please, please Lizzie,” I begged putting on my best puppy dog face, ”Reed isn't going to be home until late tonight and I'll be just sitting around looking at the clock. I promise I'll do whatever Jordan tells me to do and I'll be a good girl, I won't even drink, please. Let's call it research.”
Lizzie sighed and I knew I had won despite the fact she did not want to. She was unable to resist the power of my puppy dog face.
”I'll talk to Jordan about it tonight. But if he says no-”
I nodded and put my best innocent girl's face on. ”I promise I'll never ask again.”
”Good,” she said nodding in satisfaction.
”By the way, did you ask Jordan to have me over to breakfast before or after you called me?” I said slyly.
”Before. Believe me, I did not want another 'lecture' as I like to call them,” she said and gave a delicate shudder.
I raised my eyebrow at her in disbelief. The all too innocent look on her face gave her away and we dissolved into peals of laughter that brought Mrs. Lichten out of the kitchen.
I saw the twinkle in her eye that Lizzie had talked about. Despite all of their arguments and her muttering, I knew she actually did approve of Lizzie and that made me warm to her.
We finished our breakfast doing the best we could to make as much noise as we could to cause Mrs. Lichten to give us nasty looks and we had just hit our 25th nasty look when Jordan reappeared.
He dutifully informed me that it was time for me to leave so Lizzie could get some rest and that he was going to drive me home. Once again, the ride went by in silence by his choice not mine this time and I didn't push it. Lizzie was right; there was something up with Jordan and I was worried for Lizzie's sake, I just hoped that it would all come to light soon.
Lizzie got a hold of me around noon after what was apparently a long chat with Jordan.
”Okay, you're in but Jordan has a few conditions that I'll let him tell you about once he gets on the phone. I'd just like to go on record and say I protest this violently and if anything happens to you, I'll kick your ass,” she warned me in a tone that was a very good replica of Jordan's.
I pumped my fist in the air. ”Yes ma'am. Whatever you say, ma'am.”
I could hear her still grumbling as she handed the phone to Jordan.
”Rule number one: you only observe, you are not to participate with anyone,” he started immediately without any greeting.
