111 Run (1/2)
”Hunter!”
Hearing the shout of their comrade, the rest immediately jolted to looked behind them and what they saw were two Hunter Type zombie dashing towards them like an olympic sprinter.
Their leader just raised an eyebrow and calmly commanded, ”Vin and Ned, we'll take rear guard. The rest, clear the way towards our car. Now!”
””Sir!””
The other four armed men hastily made their way forward while killing all the zombies that get in their way while their leader along with Vin and Ned slowly etched backwards while shooting at the two Hunters as the latter dodged from side to side.
Ultimately, these mutated zombies was still unlucky enough as they died riddled with bullets hole on their bodies as their lifeless bodies slumped just a few yards away from the three armed men and just a bit, just a bit more and their claws would have been able to tear the vulnerable bodies of these soldiers into pieces.
But the men didn't immediately relaxed their guard and instead immediately dashed away as they followed behind the others as they maneuvered along the abandoned vehicles on their way.
If someone was looking from a tall building then they would see that the place where the soldiers are, is actually a huge parking lot now turned into a car ”graveyard” and because of the sound emitted by their firearms, the zombies from around the town are slowly converging towards their direction and the fastest are those mutated zombies.
Luckily for this group, the town's only so small compared to the other bigger towns so the mutated zombies are only limited in numbers and they are of lowest type of mutated zombies, the Hunter and Striker, that attacks with its disgusting tentacle like tongue.
If it were ordinary civilians who caused the ruckus earlier, then they would have long descended into panic but this soldiers are clearly veterans as all of them didn't even show signs of panic at all, clearly displaying how cool headed they could be even in this dangerous situation that they had gotten themselves into.
Hundred meters.
Seventy five meters.
Fifty meters.
The soldiers just ran and ran and didn't even looked back as they just focused on escaping from the place.
Twenty five meters.
Five meters.
A couple of seconds later, they finally reached their destination. It was a military cargo truck.
”Go, go, go!” their leader said as he stopped and started to open fire at the incoming mutated zombies behind them, giving them a cover fire so that all of them could get on in the truck.
When the truck's engine rumbled to life, the leader immediately left his post and jumped in the truck as the soldiers who was already inside also gave him a cover fire.
Bam! Bam! Bam!
”Move!” one soldiers said while banging the back the metallic divider behind the driver's seat.
The truck immediately accelerated as the truck shook when it just ran over the zombies in front of it and when they finally shook off the small encirclement, it drifted in an S shape motion as it knocked over all the zombies wandering around, creating a small dust cloud behind them.
The truck then sped off into the distance and when the soldiers finally that they were safe, the slumped down on their seat with relief as they wiped off the sweat that gathered on their face and their racing heart finally calmed down.
If Leo was here, his eyes would probably bulged in shock knowing that this group of people actually had working modern firearms with them.
”Sh*t, we're finally out of that hellhole” one of them said with a chuckle, refreshed after drinking a sip of his water.
