Chapter 186 - Acknowledging Another “Son” (1/2)

Once the thought of sneaking over to take a look was born in his mind, Zhang Che’s entire body felt uneasy.

It was like a little character jumped out from his brain, yelling at him, “Go take a look, what are you scared of?! Go take a look, what are you scared of?!”

Zhang Che gritted his teeth, -Whatever, at most I’ll die. I’d rather die a good, fast death than a slow and torturous one!-

If he was trapped here and unable to get out, he’d starve to death in the end anyway. Why not go take a look at the situation, perhaps he could even pick up some scraps?

Thinking of that, Zhang Che felt even more inclined to do so. -I’m known as the Prince of Scraps; who knows, I might even pick some up this time?

-Well, thinking about it, it does seem like I do successfully pick up most of the scraps I come across!

-How exciting!-

Zhang Che finally made his decision. -I’ll go. I’ll definitely go!-

However, before he took action, Zhang Che recalled all of his babies, leaving only the frisky monkey at his side, wielding the Falling Star Model X, while he was armed with the Fallen Star bow.

The environment here was too dangerous. Bringing too many babies by his side would easily draw the attention of the powerful creatures around him. Therefore, less was better. With less targets, it became easier to hide.

However, after thinking about it again, Zhang Che summoned the Scarlet Flame Drake back out. This fellow’s skill was truly tyrannical to the extreme, and could save him during crucial moments. Moreover, the Scarlet Flame Drake wasn’t considered very big in size. If they acted carefully, they probably wouldn’t attract the surrounding powerful creatures.

There still wasn’t any signs of activity from the forest. Judging by the looks of it, the fierce battle between the two powerful creatures had concluded, and the winner had been decided.

Not only that, seeing as their battle lasted for half an hour, it was very likely that it ended in both sides being gravely wounded. If the difference in strength was large, how could the battle possibly take this long? It would have ended in the blink of an eye!

“Let’s go!” Zhang Che waved his hand lightly, wielding the Fallen Star bow in the other. He let the frisky monkey scout ahead and lead the way, while he followed closely behind. The Scarlet Flame Drake was guarding at his side. If anything was amiss, it would immediately spring into action and use its Liquifying Scarlet Flames skill.

——–

The forest was dense, and grass grew everywhere. It was very advantageous for Zhang Che’s group trying to keep themselves hidden.

Even the larger Scarlet Flame Drake was almost fully concealed when it walked in the grasses. If it wasn’t for the fellow’s bright appearance, there wouldn’t be any problem at all.

They advanced forward between two and three hundred meters. Looking through the grass, they could see some fallen trees around; the area ahead was in ruins.

Zhang Che took a few deep breaths, and slowed down even further.

He wasn’t able to confirm whether the two unknown creatures that fought each other were truly severely injured. He could only try to be as careful as possible. Once he realized anything was amiss, he definitely wouldn’t hesitate to turn around and leave.

The further he moved forward, the more fallen trees he saw. To his astonishment, he even discovered a huge tree with a diameter close to two meters uprooted. That huge tree had fallen, crushing a few other small trees.

Well, “small” was only in comparison. From Zhang Che’s view, the crushed trees could barely be considered big trees.

As he slowly walked forward, he suddenly missed his footing and nearly fell into the grasses.

Looking down, Zhang Che couldn’t help but widened his eyes.

-What a huge footprint! I could sit in it and there’s still room to spare!-

Judging from the footprint, this terrifying creature had only three toes. Its foot sank deep into the earth, crushing the dense grasses into the soil.

Zhang Che tried to press his hand into the earth. To his shock, he realized the soil was very firm. Given his current strength, he was barely able to push into it.

How big must the owner of this footprint be? And how much would it weigh?

Zhang Che immediately started hesitating. -Should I go take a look or not..?-

The little creature in his brain jump out again, coercing, – Go, go! You already came all the way here, why would you not go!-

Zhang Che grit his teeth and continued making his way forward.

Suddenly, a thick smell of blood struck them from in front. Zhang Che looked down and discovered that there were many crimson red blood stains on the desolate ground. The stains had yet to dry, and thus the bloody smell was extra thick.

-It should be right ahead!-

Zhang Che couldn’t help but hasten his steps. After passing through an area of fallen trees, the view before him suddenly widened.

It wasn’t because there weren’t any more trees around. Instead, the trees were destroyed from collisions, scattered on the ground, and unable to block Zhang Che’s vision.
