Marlene's reaction made Xiao XiRan's heart almost jumped out of his chest. He fell out of the sofa, while his butt slammed on the floor, holding his face that was punched.

”Wife! I can explain.” Xiao XiRan said with a jumping rabbit inside his heart. He honestly doesn't know how to explain since he knew it was his fault to force someone to marry him.

Rubbing his face that was punched by his wife, Xiao XiRan can feel pain on his lips. He can taste a blood from the side of his mouth while looking at Marlene's angry face.

Marlene looked down at Xiao XiRan who remained in the floor with a face slowly turning pale while beads of cold sweat began to form on his forehead.

She remained sitting on the sofa with a complicated expression but Marlene's heart secretly felt being twisted to know that there's another woman waiting for Xiao XiRan.

Her silence made Xiao XiRan's heart began to panic. Although he has no idea how Marlene run away from him three years ago, the way she hides from him made him feel frightened to happen again.

Xiao XiRan stood up and sat next to Marlene. He picked up her hands that were clenching on her lap while ignoring everyone watching them.

”I know I was wrong. But I thought I would never see you ever again.” Xiao XiRan uttered slowly and tenderly like a spell with sincerity on his voice.

Marlene: ”…” Since when does he speak this way?

”Have you forgotten? All those years, I tried to find you, but your people ban me to enter your land.” Xiao XiRan said in a low or barely audible voice.

Xiao XiRan's voice cannot hide the sadness as he explained like there was a knife piercing his heart. ”But you sent a word that you would never see me again and asked me to move on.”

Marlene: ”…” So it is now my fault?!

Marlene was speechless. She lowered her head with a complicated expression while recalling the times when Xiao XiRan came to the Reverie forest to take the test to enter medieval land.
