Chapter 544 - The wedding (3) (1/2)

Once the guests have arrived and sat on their respective seats, Jeremy sent a message to the newlywed.

It was time for them to enter the hall as husband and wife.

Ryn went outside to wait for the couple as well as the quality check to ensure everything was perfect before the two of them entered the hall.

Jeremy, on the other hand, went to the floor manager to inform her that they would start the program in a minute or two. The emcee for the event should be ready to start it anytime. Jeremy also needed to inform the music team to be prepared to start. They were already on the stage, playing music live but they needed to get ready for the newlywed to enter the hall.

After all, the moment when Mika and Jason entered the hall was a special moment as it was the first time they arrived as a husband and wife.

Ryn did not have to wait long. Apparently, the couple was already waiting for the signal to come. Ryn smiled from ear to ear to see her best friend walking toward her while holding her hand with her husband.

”You two are so perfect together. Let me adjust a bit of the dress,” Ryn leaned down to smooth down the dress Mika was wearing. ”And your lipstick.”

Mika giggled. Her lipsticks were, unfortunately, eaten by Jason who could not hold himself anyway while waiting. She did tell him to be careful but they almost carried away with the moment.

Once Ryn was satisfied with their appearence, she opened the door.

Immediately the emcee announced the arrival of the newlywed. Ryn followed behind as she ensuring everything was alright.

The emcee who was actually a famous host in the country started the event by introducing himself and what today was about. It was not a formal black tie event so he slipped a bit of humour in his introduction. Then, he invited the father of the bride to toast the couple as well as to welcome everyone.

Mr Long stood up and smiled brightly at everyone. His handsome face was almost identical to his handsome son so that everyone knew what Jeremy would look like when he was at the same age as his father. Mr Long started his speech by welcoming everyone to the wedding and then, as he lifted his glass of champagne, his voice choked a bit as he said ”My daughter, my little baby daughter has now officially leave me. I am happy to see you so happy but I wish we have more time together before you belong to someone else. Alas, that man you love really determined to have you as he kept coming to see me every single year to ask for your hand. That man, really a stubborn man and this year I lost.”

Everyone laughed when Mr Long pretended to glare at the sheepish Jason. ”I can only keep you until today, my little princess. I can't win against his determination to have you. I guess I am already old now to win against him.”

”Father,” it was natural for Jason to call him that as the younger man scratched his nape sheepishly while Mika giggled.

”The first time I met Jason, he was still in his school uniform. He made an appointment to see me at the office but he did not look nervous at all when he asked for my permission to be your boyfriend. I remember I choked my coffee that day. It was before you brought him home to introduce to me.”

Everyone laughed at that. Mika looked at Jason in touch. Her husband actually went to meet her father to ask permission to be her boyfriend? How cool was that?

”And apparently, it made him believe that you two can get married quickly so every year he would come and ask for your hand. Every single year.” Mr Long sighed dramatically as he shook his head.

”I have to talk with his father to actually discuss when was the right time for you to be married but alas, he wanted it earlier. Am I right?” Mr Long looked at his in-law and Mr Wu nodded his head. He too actually had a headache because of his son. It brought awkwardness when Mr Long came to the office to ask for his help to stop Jason from coming seeing him to ask for Mika's hand every year. He tried to stop Jason, of course, but it felt like he was talking to a wall. Jason nodded as if he understood and would not repeat it but next year came Mr Long with his complain until the two men, along with their wife met and discuss when to let the couple to get married. Hence, the Dowager and the wives went to get auspicious date from the temple two years ago. They informed Jason but that stubborn man still tried to get marry earlier.

”So today, my work is done. You two are already married and I believe Jason will treat you and love you just as much or even more than what your mother and I gave you. Mika, my little princess, as I said before, now you are a wife and you should remember it. Consider him before you do anything. Love and respect each other. That is the key to happiness.” He smiled as Mika patted her wet cheeks with the handkerchief. His eyes filled with love. ”Jason, my little princess is in your hands now. Love her like we love her. Bring her happiness. If you make her cry, I will be the one to come and take her away from you.”

”Father, I promise I won't make her sad. Not once,” Jason promised hurriedly.
