Chapter 511 - She is my other half (1/2)
She held Jeremy's arm lightly as they walked into the building. A man quickly approached them and led the way to the hall. Ryn did not speak a word when she saw several media waiting outside the hall, where the organizer set up a sort of red carpet with a wall of the brands sponsoring the event so the guests could take pictures.
Ryn wanted to let Jeremy has the 'stage' with the media but he refused to let her go. So, she stood beside him as they let the cameramen took their pictures.
”Jeremy, over here,” a reporter called with a wave of his hand.
Jeremy turned to smile at Ryn, asking her silently if it was alright for them to go there together.
Ryn's reply? She smiled and gave a slight nod, agreeing to be with him for the interview session.
She stood beside him patiently, watching as he answered the questions. It was not a surprise when so many reporters started to ask him questions; regarding his career as a businessman and even as a singer. And then, well, to her expectation actually, the question touched about her too.
”Catherine is my other half,” Jeremy introduced proudly. He did not want to give her a girlfriend label when he felt like she was more than that. Besides, according to his grandmother, he would soon call her his wife so introducing her as a girlfriend when the title would soon change into wife was not be appropriate nor fair to her.
”You mean...”
”When the time is right, we will announce it,” he said as the hand wrapped around her waist tightened. He was so proud introducing her as his and this also was a warning to other men not to think of stealing her away. He would not allow anyone to even have the notion that she was in the market.
The reporters then turned their attention to Ryn. As she was used to working in front of the cameras, she did not find it hard to stay calm and answer the questions. Of course, things that she was not comfortable sharing with others, she just gave a vague answer or push it to Jeremy to answer.
The reporters, sensing that the couple would not indulge much in their relationship, could only swallow their regret and thanked the couple for giving their time.
Jeremy gave them a nod and brought Ryn into the hall where the others were at. Two women were waiting at the door to register their names.
Ryn did not hand her shawl to the girls. She just smiled and followed Jeremy to their table with another girl showing them the way.
Jeremy pulled the chair for Ryn and then sat beside her. He answered the questions from those in the table. They were at the table as the event would start soon. Later on, they would start walking around to socialize and network.
Soon enough, everyone looked at the stage when a man stood there with a microphone.
He was the emcee of the event. First, he greeted everyone and introduced himself. Then, he welcomed everyone to the event before he invited the chairperson of the NGO for the welcoming speech.
Everyone gave a polite clap as an elder man walked to the stage.
The man introduced himself as Clark and thanked everyone for coming. He also talked about the event and why it was held. He did not talk too long and after thanking everyone for coming, he handed the microphone back to the emcee.
Ryn could no longer stay focus on what was happening on the stage when waiters started to bring in the food. It was 10k per head so the food was quite luxurious.
But what made Ryn a bit mad was that for this type of food, the amount per person was so little, she had no doubt she would not feel half-full. She glanced at Jeremy sadly and her boyfriend just gave him a reassuring smile and a pat on her thɨġh. He would bring her to eat more later if she was still hungry.
With a relieved sigh, she started to enjoy the food. She was not worried now about being hungry when she went to bed tonight.
And again, she just smiled and listened to the conversation as she ate her food.
