Chapter 507 - I still do my work (1/2)
Jeremy entered the office behind his father. He watched as his father took his seat on the comfortable thick leather chair behind the mahagony table. Jeremy took his seat on the opposite chair and waited obediently for the next session of the nag.
”How many days have you taken off?” Mr. Long asked with a ċȯċk of an eyebrow. He crossed his arms and stared at his son.
”Even though I took days off but I still do my work at night,” Jeremy pointed out.
”So you're saying that you don't have to the office to work?”
Jeremy stood up and excuse himself before he quickly logged into his email and showed the display to his father. ”The only emails I haven't checked are the ones sent when I learned about the meeting.”
Mr. Long frowned as he read. He also clicked the sent section and read what Jeremy replied back.
Jeremy turned around and gestured for Jacob to come closer.
”Where are the files you've given me this morning?” He asked.
Jacob quickly went out to get the files. Luckily he already took the files Jeremy has finished checked before he returned to the office and not yet arranged them yet. He also has handed the new files for his boss to check. As Jeremy was now in charge of two companies, there seem to be non-stop of a flow of documents for Jeremy to read and approve.
Mr. Long just watched as the man brought in a mountain of files. He looked at his smirked son speechlessly. Well, he has no more excuse to nag at his son. Apparently, despite being 'lazy' and took days off for his pŀėȧsurė, Jeremy still did not forget his responsibility to the company.
”Well...” he choked out but nothing else came out from his mouth. Truthfully, he could not say anything more.
Jacob quickly gathered the files after he received the signal from Jeremy and left the office. He still needed to arrange them neatly before he could call the departments to pick up their respective files. And he also needed to arrange and reconfirm all the meetings and meals that Jeremy has to attend with the workers or with clients. He has to make sure none of the date touched Young Mistress Long's wedding day and honeymoon. He also needed to check with the music company about his boss's schedules. All the practices and the tour. He has to make sure none of them can interrupt his boss's work in the company.
”If there is nothing more, I need to leave,” Jeremy said.
”Where are you going? Home?” Mr. Long refused to let him leave the office. It was working hour right now and as the heir, Jeremy should not be so lazy. What would their workers said to see the Young Master not going to work for several days?
”It's almost 4.00 pm,” Jeremy pointed out dryly. He has wasted so many hours arguing with Ryn, and then discussed it with Jason before tried his hard to come out with a plan (but failed miserably) until the time when he had to come to the office just for the stupid meeting. Of course, the day would get later and later and now, it was almost time to go off work, just an hour more or less.
Mr. Long refused to say a word. He did not notice how much time has passed. And to think his daughter and wife actually left him with this ungrateful son... he did not know what position he was in the family anymore.
”Mother has left with grandmother and Mika for a meal. I guess you're on your own, father,” Jeremy shrugged. He was just being mean because he had to listen to his father's nagging for so long.
Mr. Long's face darkened. His perfect wife did not even give him a call or ask him to join them for the meal.
Jeremy smirked. Without another word, he stood up and straightened his coat. And then, he walked to the door. ”Tomorrow I will come and handle the rest of the files. I need to go home to prepare for dinner tonight.”
Mr. Long watched as his son walked to the door leisurely. He... he really could not wait to retire officially. Watch how that young man can strut around leisurely when he has to handle all these works. And he... he would plan another honeymoon trip with his lovely wife and it would take them two years long away from all the kids and works. He would not allow anyone or anything to interrupt his time with his lovely wife.
Jeremy used the elevator to go down the lobby and smiled when he saw the car was already in front. Without looking anywhere else, he got into the car and told the driver to send him to the apartment.
”You can leave,” he told the driver once they reached at the apartment. He checked the time and found he still has time to rest before the dinner.
