Chapter 455 - The singing ability (1/2)

Tim and Hank quickly put off the cigarette they had been smoking when the couple returned to the studio. Jeremy handed a bag to them, containing food for them to have if they haven't had their lunch yet. Ryn insisted to pack for them and as her husband, he did what she told him too.

”Ryn and I will look at the songs first while you two enjoy your food,” he told the men. Again, he grabbed the lyric and sat next to his girlfriend.

Tim and Hank quickly thanked Ryn by calling her ”sister-in-law”, which made the woman's lips curled. She did not know whether to laugh or cry seeing these two men's antic. She ignored them hurriedly went out with their food. Hey, they only had cigarette for their lunch because they were still preparing the songs for her. Of course, they were too busy gossiping until they forgot that they too needed to have lunch.

Ryn pursed her lips. She knew he would not give up.

”Do we really need to do this?” She asked, ”Do I really?”

”Love, this is for Mika. Don't worry. We will help you to perfect the performance,” he coaxed. He chose the first song for her to practice and handed it to her, ”Why don't you warm up your voice first.”

She repeated what he did, warming up her vocal chord. It felt weird for her but he seemed so immerse in it, she dropped her shyness as she closed her eyes and put her all into it.

”That's it. Very good,” he praised. Just by listening to her voice as she warming up her voice, he knew this will work. He stood up and went to the controller. As he pressed and played with the buttons and switches, he turned and looked at her, ”You can begin.”

The song played as he bobbed his head following the rhythm.

”And... start...” he helped telling her where to begin.

She opened her mouth as she sang. Her eyes following each word as she was afraid she would miss any of them.

He smiled as he listened to her. He could feel her nervousness but he did not mind at all. This was after all her first try and the first time for her to sing this song outside the karaoke room. In fact, he believed it had been two years for her to sing this song. It would remind her of Mika and then him so it would be impossible for her to sing these two songs after they broke up.

When she finished, she looked at him. Her cheeks were already red. This was after all a love song, a confession of love to her lover.

Then, she clutched her chest, against her heart. Her face grimaced. It suddenly pounded hard, so hard it was painful.

”Love, are you okay?” He asked hurriedly when he saw her face turned pale. Was she sick?

”I'm okay,” she said as she put the lyric on top of the table and went to the bar. She took out a tin of beer and without looking at him, she sipped it.

”Are you sure you can drink when you're not feeling well?” He asked worriedly. He tried to take the beer from her but she turned to avoid his hand.

”I'm fine. I just need a second,” she replied as she took another sip. And another. Once she felt she could face him, she put the tin onto the table and stood up again, ”Where is the toilet?”

”Turn left at the entrance,” he said even though he still worried about her. He did follow her out but she pushed him to stay in the room, ”Watch over my beer. I don't want anyone to accidentally drink it.”

He sighed heavily. Then, he took the beer she drunk and drank it in one gulp. He did not understand why she suddenly touched her chest as if she was in pain but then she drank beer and refused to look at him. It felt like she was putting another wall between them. What did he do wrong this time? He did not understand at all.

She returned at the same time as the two

men. In fact, they were chatting rather cheerfully. Jeremy did not feel anything at all seeing them being so friendly. He did trust Ryn and at the same time he knew Tim and Hank would not try to steal Ryn away because Tim already married and Hank was engaged to his childhood sweetheart. Both men were faithful to their second half so nothing to be worried about.
