Chapter 407 - Where is his Ryn? (1/2)

Jeremy went down to the ground floor to get his car. He ignored the other workers who quickly bowed and said goodbye to him. His mind was full of Ryn. Surely Ryn was not staying away just to get away from him. He refused to believe Ryn did not want to see him.

He started the engine but instead of driving the car, he closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He must calm down. He must not lose his temper again. Once he was sure he was calm enough then he started to drive the car away.

His destination? Her apartment.

Jeremy parked the car at his usual spot and walked to the elevator. He put on his mask and cap to hide his identity but it looked weird with his working attire. He ignored the weird look from people he bumped into. His mind was full of Ryn.

Where could she be? Why wouldn't she answer his call?

He pressed the button repeatedly to open the elevator quicker but everybody knew it was useless. He tapped his right foot impatiently, staring at the screen to see where the elevator was right now.

It took the elevator about two minutes before the door was opened.

He did not waste more time and walked into the small space. His destination? Her floor.

”Wait, is that Jeremy?”

Rebecca lifted her head from looking at her phone and looked at where her friend was pointing at. She frowned. She did not see anyone except for the elevator's door closing.

”Where?” she asked, looking around. She did not see anyone that looked like Jeremy. ”Maybe you're dreaming.”

”No. I just saw a man. He looks like Jeremy. Wait...” her friend frowned. ”Didn't the news say that Ryn and Jeremy are a real couple?”

Rebecca looked around worriedly. ”Quiet. Don't let Irene hear it,” she hissed. Irene has been having a bad mood recently. And her mood worsened whenever she heard Ryn's name. Rebecca did not understand why Irene was so angry at Ryn. Ryn did not do anything wrong in her eyes. In fact, as far as she knew, Ryn did not bat an eye at them. She did no longer consider them her friend and did not even care about whatever happens to them. It was clear that she did not feel any anguish when they broke their friendship with her and just continue on her life as if nothing happens.

Rebecca still did not understand why Irene took Ryn as her enemy. Even until now. They were no longer friends so why would she care whatever happens to Ryn?

Was it because of Ryn being a better model than her? Rebecca's heart whispered. But wasn't it because Ryn became a model years before Irene? Of course, Ryn would be better because she has more experience than Irene. And despite she being the 'senior' in the modeling industry, Rebecca did not hear any news of Ryn forcing others to reject Irene. She just did her job and that's all. Once Rebecca knew about Ryn's real job, she did look for her on the internet and was stunned seeing how many brands took her as their representative or working on their brands but of course, mostly overseas. No wonder Ryn always skipped her class to go overseas.

Shouldn't Irene use this opportunity to learn from Ryn? Rebecca sometimes wondered but she did not dare to question Irene's loudly. She did not want to receive the wrath from her friend and just wonder silently.

Sigh... Who was she to question Irene? She was not from a wealthy family like Irene and even has to work part-time in order to have money to spend for her daily use. Irene promised that she could do her internship at Irene's family's company which she was thankful for. Hence, she was careful not to make Irene mad and retracted back her promise to let Rebecca does her internship at the company. She did not know where else to do her internship if she loses the chance with Irene.

”Come on. Let's go. Irene is waiting for us,” Rebecca reminded. They were supposed to go to the club to celebrate Irene's birthday. Only she was hoping that it would not end too late or she would wake up late for her work.

”Let's go.”

They went down the stairs and looked for the Grab they already booked. It was already waiting for them. Both the girls went to sit at the passenger seats at the back and ordered the driver to start moving. Hopefully, the traffic was clear so they could arrive on time. They did not want Irene to find fault with them. Today was her birthday celebration so she should stay happy.

In the elevator...

There was no one inside except for Jeremy. It was better because he did not have the mood to keep smiling in front of others when his heart was pounding so hard.

Jeremy again pressed the button to Ryn's floor repeatedly, hoping that it would make the elevator went faster. He pressed several times but of course, it was only his hope. The machine worked at its usual pace and before long, the door slid opened to reveal a row of doors.
