339 A celebration with a lot of steaks (2/2)

”Certainly, Young Mistress,” the butler replied, furiously writing down the instruction.

”Good. What's for lunch?” Mika asked, already changing the topic.

”For the lunch, the cook is preparing beef stew, fish cooked in sweet and spicy sauce, vegetable stir fry, eggplant in spicy sauce and black chicken soup with ginseng.”

Mika twitched her lips at the list of the menu. Black chicken soup with ginseng? So not her taste at all. It must be under her grandma's order.

”Oh yes, where is that brother of mine?” she asked, now changing to another topic.

”What's up? Looking for me?” Jeremy asked as he walked down the stairs. He frowned seeing the excitement in Mika's face. And then, he was shocked silly when his silly little sister jumped into his arms. Luckily he managed to catch her or she would fall down.

”What are you doing, silly? Are you nuts? Do you know how dangerous it is to throw yourself while on stairs?” he asked, helping her getting down but she refused.

She even wrapped her legs around his, refused to get down. She hugged him tight, resting her chin on his right shoulder.

”Why didn't you tell me?” she asked.

”Tell you what?” he asked her back, still clueless with what happened in the living room without him.

”Tell me about you… about you and Ryn,” Mika cried.

”About what? What's between us?” Jeremy acted dumb. He did not want to be tricked by his little sister. Besides, it was better for him to know what was going on before he said anything.

”Big brother,” Mika gasped, blinking her big eyes at him. How could he still pretend when everyone already knew about this matter? How long could he hide the fact?

”Hmm?” Jeremy put her down and patted her head in a brotherly manner. Then, he moved to walk to the living room. He wanted to know what exactly happened? What did Ryn tell them?

When he reached the huge living room, he saw his mother hugging Ryn. He cocked an eyebrow, puzzled with this scenery. He opened his mouth to speak but cancelled the plan. It did not seem suitable to break the atmosphere, albeit how weird it felt.

Jeremy stood there, waiting awkwardly there while hoping for his girlfriend could help giving him any hint or signal.

”Ooh… I am so glad you two are finally together… together back,” Mrs Long choked out. She was actually crying in happiness, much to Ryn's horror.

Ryn's horrific eyes caught Jeremy's eyes and she wished he could help her. This… how should she continue with this? She never thought to make Jeremy's mother in tears. Was the news too… hard to handle?

What should she do now?

”Well… what's this, mother? Are you crying? Has something bothering you?” Jeremy finally spoke. He walked toward them with his hands in his pockets. He gave his cheekiest smile.

”Oh, Jeremy, my silly son,” Mrs Long choked out. She finally released Ryn from her embrace and went to hug her son.

Jeremy's eyes widened. What was going on right now?

”They knew,” with a heavy sigh, Ryn confessed.

”You told them?” Jeremy asked her.

”What can I do? They surrounded me,” Ryn shrugged.

”Oh, why are you two so far way? Come… come… sit next to each other.” Mrs Long pulled her son to sit beside Ryn. Then, she stepped back and clasped her hands over her heart and cooed.

”Well, this is weird,” Jeremy whispered at Ryn's ear while trying to maintain his nonchalance expression.

”Tell me about it,” she whispered back, also maintaining her smile, a very awkward smile.

Mika joined into the living room, skipping happily. Her eyes sparkled seeing the newly reconciled couple sitting together. She wanted to join them, sitting on the same sofa but her mother quickly stopped her.

”Mother,” Mika wailed.

”Sit over here,” her mother instructed, pushing her toward another sofa.

”But why?” Mika did not understand why she was forced to sit at another sofa. Wasn't there another space there, just beside Ryn? Why couldn't she sit over there? Why must she sit here?
