Chapter 200 - Retire from the limelight (1/2)

She spent almost half an hour just answering questions from Harry. It almost felt like she was talking with a possessive boyfriend.

Heck, it almost felt like she was talking with a vinegar tank!

At the end of their conversation, the frown in her face was so deep, she felt like her skin tightened so much, it hurt. She, in her anger, ended the conversation abruptly, could no longer take his neverending questions about why she deliberately forgetting to inform him about her trip to the island, and why she did not invite him to go along.

It was so frustrating, it gave her a headache!

She dropped the phone back to the bed with a loud groan. Her hand rubbed her head, trying to ease the pain.

”Damn.”

After a few minutes, she got up and walked slowly to the kitchen to get a glass of water. Her headache was getting worse and she needed a pill to stop it.

She leaned back against the refrigerator after she gulped down a Paracetamol. She closed her eyes and waited for the pill to work its magic.

Then, once she felt better, she walked slowly back to her bedroom. Mother call was waiting. The last but most important call.

A call to Jeremy.

She sighed heavily when she saw the mobile phone lying innocently on the bed.

Whether she liked it or not, she had to do the call.

Slowly her hand reached for it but still, she did not swipe her finger to unlock the phone.

She felt tired. She felt restless. She did not have the mood to do this.

Without thinking, she dropped the phone to the bed and went out of the room. Instead of going back to the kitchen, she went into the bathroom to wash her face with cold water.

Now she... No, she was still not ready.

She went to the living room and lied down on the floor, staring at the ceiling.

After the conversation with Harry, she did not have the mood to face the questions from Jeremy. She did not want to feel guilty just having time alone herself. She did not belong to anyone, and was not required to report to anyone about her activities!

When she woke up, the sun was no longer shining into the living room. She checked the time and found it was already late. And if she did not get prepared now, she would be late for the dinner with Mika.

With that in mind, she quickly went into the bathroom for a quick shower. She did not want to be late.

Jeremy? She would call him tomorrow, after her work. She thought she would be ready by that time to talk with him. Yes, tomorrow would never be late for them to chat.

She did not know where Mika would bring her so to play safe, she put on a dress. It could be worn for both casual and at the same time could be turned into a formal dress with some accessories.

She put the accessories needed into a small black sequins bag.

For makeup, enough just a creamy light pink lipsticks, just enough to give some colours to her face although she prefered none. But she needed to coax Mika and wearing makeup was her way of making Mika happy.

”I'm done,” she smiled at the sight of herself in a low ponytail plus lipstick. The dress was not too short, enough to cover her kneecaps. Oh, how she wished she could simply wear her usual jeans but making Mika felt better was her objective now.

She looked for her phone, which she conveniently forgot the past few hours, and saw a few missed calls coming from... gulp... Jeremy.

How did he know she was going to call him but she did not? Did he put a camera here?

”Tomorrow I will talk with you,” she told the phone. Despite the attempts from Jeremy to contact her, she was still not ready to face his questions.

She wanted to put the phone on silent but cancelled it. What if Mika contact her to inform about her arrival and she missed it? It would be a disaster!

*~*~*~*

Jeremy glanced at his phone. It was still silent, no ringing or notification coming from it. He groaned and hit the steering wheel with his left hand.

Why didn't she call him like she did Mika? Why she only called Mika?

”Do you truly hate me, Ryn? Do you really have no feeling on me?”

His heart bled at the thought of her no longer love him. Was it that easy to forget the love they shared?

The honks from the back made him realize the light was already green. He scowled and quickly changed the gear to move the car. Although he could not contact her since this morning, it did not stop him from going to her house.
