Chapter 1 - The Bridal Night (2/2)
This time, Lin Qiu’s real mother entered grandly into the picture, and she pleaded to the sects, saying that Lin Qiu’s father died because he sacrificed his life for Wei Liang. If Lin Qiu’s father hadn’t taken a blade for him, then Wei Liang would have disintegrated along with the evil master! Because Lin Qiu’s father saved Wei Liang’s life, then Wei Liang owed the Lin family a debt. The Lin family’s only wish was to marry off her beloved daughter. If Wei Liang was reluctant to take her as his wife, then he would be seen as ungrateful and unworthy to be the leader of them all.
Wei Liang could only focus on protecting the world, and during times of uncertainty like this, he naturally couldn’t retire now. In the end, he agreed to take Lin Qiu in as his wife…
How should he treat Lin Qiu that could only be signalled as normal? Disdain? Disgust? Unimportant?
As Lin Qiu’s thoughts raced in her head, Wei Liang’s fingers slipped into her shoulders, softly removing the last layer of soft clothing. Although his gestures appeared ceremonial, Lin Qiu thought that something in his gaze looked like he wanted to seek revenge!
This realization made Lin Qiu shudder to her very bones.
Who would’ve known that the male lead would be such a pervert?! He seemed like a refined gentleman, but he’s only just another scum of society!
His fingers were cold, most likely from the heavy injuries he hadn’t completely recovered from yet. His cool skin grazed past her collar bones, brushed softly against her shoulders, then, finally, the last bit of clothing was removed from her.
Suddenly, there was the sound of hurried footsteps approaching them!
Lin Qiu was so startled that she almost jumped—It’s coming, it’s coming, the plot is nearing! Liu Qing Yin would be sobbing because of Big Brother, and she was running towards Wei Liang to inform him!
Lin Qiu held on to her undergarments that had almost fallen and hurriedly put them back on. She even tightly held on to the collar area under her chin.
“Master—” a refreshing female voice said from outside, “It’s Apprentice Liu Qing Yin, I have something urgent to notify you!”
Wei Liang froze, then he slowly released his grip on Lin Qiu and got up. Lin Qiu realized that his garments were not messy at all.
Wei Liang turned back and glanced at her, and Lin Qiu realized that, surprisingly, the Wei Liang she saw now was the same as the one described in the book—like a mountain flower, unreachable, his body flowing with a hint of chilliness that made people steer clear of him.
With his cold eyes, thin lips, jade skin and ink-like hair, nothing about him was mundane.
He folded up his sleeves and pulled up the covers over the bed, hiding away the salaciousness that was happening just a moment ago.
“Come in,” he said. His voice sounded cold.
Lin Qiu knew that her part had ended—the passing of Big Brother was not a small matter, and Wei Liang wouldn’t return to finish the deed, not now or tomorrow morning, when there would be other things that would happen. Lin Qiu just had to focus on not dying like the original female supporting role, then she could prepare on disappearing from Wei Liang’s life!
Once she relaxed, she started to get excited. She pushed away the covers and looked out. She could see Liu Qing Yin’s absolute beauty, as befitting of the female lead. The white fabric she wore softly moved with every gesture, making her look like a goddess that descended onto the human realm.
“Master! Big Brother, he’s—”
Lin Qiu was completely startled. Liu Qin Yin’s expression was alight with happiness as she rushed into the room and shouted excitedly at Wei Liang. How could this be? Liu Qin Yin was a kind-hearted woman, and even she would not be so happy that she ruined Wei Liang’s and the evil supporting character’s wedding night, even less so when Big Brother passed away! Even though Big Brother wasn’t significant in this story, he had a similar personality to Wei Liang’s and was loved by the audience.
‘Liu Qing Yin, you’re going way too overboard!’
“How could you be so happy when someone passed away?” Lin Qiu inadvertently said with a glare at Liu Qin Yin.
Wei Liang slowly turned his head and gave Lin Qiu a strange stare. He could see her small head peeking out from behind the drapery, her hair messed up from before, her small face looking pale, like a flower that got hit by the rain.
Liu Qing Yin almost laughed out of anger. “What death?” she demanded. “What did Big Brother do to you that you had to curse him in this way!” Her eyes flashed at Lin Qin, but she took a deep breath and suppressed the urge to shout at her again and turned back to Wei Liang. “Master! Big Brother is awake! You have to go visit him!”
‘Awake? Big Brother is awake? Why was this different from the book?’ Lin Qiu wondered. She then realized that she was supposed to be the evil side character. If Liu Qing Yin barged into the original Lin’s Qiu’s room, Lin Qiu would have turned furious. The way she was acting now was too calm, too normal.
Even if Lin Qiu did want to leave Wei Liang, the sudden change in motivation would be too obvious. Since there weren’t any psychologists or mental hospitals here, any drastic change in personality would make people here think she was from some evil cultivation sect, and they would capture her and burn her alive.
Lin Qiu slanted her head and looked at Wei Liang. The two of them looked strangely at each other. But neither of them understood each other’s gaze.
“Master!” Liu Qing Yin urged from behind.
Despite her cries, Wei Liang wasn’t in a rush to leave. He strode towards the edge of the bed, tilted Lin Qiu’s chin with two cold fingers, then planted a soft kiss on her lips. “Wait for my return.” His voice sounded both cold and gentle.
‘???!!!’
Lin Qiu’s lips twitched and she glanced over at the female lead. She could see all the color drain from Liu Qin Yin’s face as she bit her lower lip and her eyes started to fill with tears.
Lin Qiu reached out to push Wei Liang away, but he got a hold of her hand. He leaned in close to her ear and spoke in a volume which she could only hear. “You’re doing great,” he said in a low voice.
“…”
What did she do?!
