78 Alyssa is Kidnapped! (1/2)

The meeting ended much more early than expected. Both the parties didn't budge from their place hence no mutual understanding was created between them and no conclusion was derived at the end of the meeting. Alyssa bowed before the King Antonio just for the formality shake. Her posture was rigid and most of her body was in an upright position. Just by looking at her posture, anyone can deduce that she is not in the mood of exchanging greetings.

Antonio too huffed in the response to her greetings.

Alyssa walked out of the study room with a heavy heart. She could see all the troubles she is about to face as soon as she left the Palace. Now her life was really at risk and the culprit is in open. Her enemies that had not dared previously to harm her, with the support of the King and the Royal Court will openly harm her.

Alyssa didn't try to change King Antonio's thoughts because she knew that even if she will say something patriotic in front of him, the man before her will not change. He had become like this through decades of gradual changes. It was impossible to change his thoughts by just a few words said in a span of a few minutes.

Alyssa walked out of the room and saw a maid rushing towards her. She was holding a glass of water a cup of tea and a few sweet dishes on a tray. She looked at her and realized that she was not the maid that had smiled at her. She was different. Alyssa thought that the food in the tray was for the king so just after a glance at her, she kept walking in her own direction. But the maid stopped right in front of her startling her. The maid looked old. She was maybe around forty-five or fifty years of age. She smiled apologetically and said, ”Princess Alyssa, we maids have made something sweet for you in return for your hard work towards people like us.”

Alyssa once again looked at the tray full of dishes then she looked at the maid's clear and bright eyes.

Alyssa didn't find this maid suspicious so genuinely she smiled in return. She felt happy that someone has recognized her efforts. Her sour mood from the meeting dissipated a little.

”Thank you so much for your effort but you shouldn't have to do this,” Alyssa said smiling at her.

”It is no trouble, Princess Alyssa. It is our honor to serve you.” The maid smiled and blinked her clear bright eyes.

”Please have some.” The maid continued placing the tray in front of Alyssa.

Even though Alyssa was not in the mood to eat something and she was not hungry at all, she didn't want to let their hard work go in vain.

”Hmmm…. This is so delicious.” Alyssa moaned in pleasure.

Even after earning so much money, Alyssa never had any time to visit a proper high-class restaurant and have her meal there. She was unknown to the delicacies of the world. After becoming a Princess and becoming rich, even now, Alyssa used to take home-cooked meals prepared by her or sometimes by Noah.

The maid's eyes brightened at her response. She eagerly pushed her tray towards Alyssa and said, ”Please have some more. We are so happy to know that you liked our dish.”

Alyssa took another bite of the sweet dish. It was as tasty as the previous bite.

Yummy!

After eating it Alyssa said, ”I have to leave now. Please distribute the remaining sweets among children.”

”Wait, Princess Alyssa.” The maid called from behind.

”Please have some water. Water is as much necessary as food.” The maid smiled through her wrinkles at Alyssa.

Alyssa chuckled at this. She was indeed parched. She didn't know why she was feeling so thirsty after eating the sweets. She took the glass of water and drank it in one go.

”Bye,” Alyssa said.
