63 The Cavalry! (1/2)

Alyssa could hear the sharp sound produced by the nail when it hit the ground. The sound of that metal clanking on the ground was heavy on her ears. It was her last hope and just like the broken nail, her hopes broke too. Her breath hitched. She could see everything clearly. She felt like everything was happening in slow motion.

The monster was in front of her with his mouth open. She could see its every pointy teeth. There were teeth present in his jaws too. they were short and pointy, just like the rest of the teeth. She could see the monster's jaw dislocating from its place so that he can swallow her in one single fluid motion just like snakes.

It is better to be eaten as a whole than to be shredded into pieces. She bet the monster was so hungry that it didn't bother to cut her into pieces, limb by limb, and chew her.

If she were in some other place, she would probably laugh at these weird thoughts passing through her brain. But she was now petrified, rooted to the ground, without even blinking.

She can see the monster's hand approaching her. It didn't have fingers. And his nails were not turned into claws. Rather his whole digit was pointy and sharp and it grew straight from the palms. Maybe those digits were not made of cartilage because when they touch Alyssa's face, she could tell they were hard, just like metal.

The monster chuckled and caressed Alyssa's face with his pointy claws leaving a trace of broken skin in its place. Blood oozed out from the broken part that made the monster growl dangerously.

He opened his mouth to take a bite of her flesh when something flashed before Alyssa at lightning speed. The thing hit the monster in his head making it look at the source of the thing.

Alyssa looked towards it too. She could see several men standing at the door with guns in their hands. They were dressed in black robes and had their face covered. Alyssa could only see their eyes. There was a bright blue colored symbol stitched on the left side of their chest. The symbol was of a wolf's face in howling position with its fangs bared.

The thing that had hit the monster just now was the bullet shot by one of them. But the bullet had missed its mark and had shot the monster's left arm above the elbows.

It growled towards them and with one fluid motion leaped towards the men.

”Get down!” One of them ordered in a loud voice.

And as if the like a robot performing on a command, Alyssa automatically crouched down. She covered her head with both her arms and buried herself in her knees.

The werewolves that used to live with the humans too were treated like this. They were hunted down by them and killed. They were forced to leave the main continent and to settle in this continent away from the eyes of humans to survive. The same things happened with vampires, witches any other creatures that were different from humans.

She could hear the men thrown away and colliding with the walls and then hitting back to the ground because of gravity. But she remained in that position. After a few seconds, everything became calm. There were no more gunshots, no more howls.

Alyssa raised her head and looked before her. She could see around six-seven bodies thrown across the room and among those bodies one was the most noticeable one, the body of the monster.

Alyssa pulled herself from the ground and gave out a small dry laugh. Her legs were still shaking and her whole body felt wobbly. But she was excited, happy to be alive. It was like a heavyweight had lifted off her chest. She felt light. She looked around but suddenly her vision blurred. She shook her head to make the nausea go away but suddenly everything turned dark. She could feel herself falling. She was ready to take the hit and feel the pain but the pain never came. Only a scent remained. A scent of lavender and citrus and something else, something very familiar.

Beep…. Beep…. Beep….

Beep.beep.beep.beep....

Alyssa could hear a frantic noise from god knows where. It sounded very familiar and very mechanical. It was annoying. Her heart was thumping in her chest. Her whole body was drenched in sweat.

Memories of a monster came rushing down to her. She was in a dark room and a scary monster was approaching her. she was running but there was no place to run. It was like her feet were stuck to the ground. She wanted to run but she was stuck at the same place. She wasn't moving forward at all. Alyssa looked back. The monster was at her tail. The monster clutched her throat and she couldn't breathe at all.

”Alyssa….”

She heard someone calling her.

”Alyssa…..”

She heard this voice again. It sounded so familiar.

”Alexander?” Alyssa called out in the dark.
