27 Hitting Viole (1/2)
Alyssa sighed and got up from her seat to go towards the food counter.
Their cafeteria was divided into two parts. One end serves the 'general food menu', called 'General Food Counter' that was cheap. It had your everyday food items. The quality of the food was a bit coarse and was available to the general student body of the school.
But on the other hand, on the opposite wall of the 'General Food Counter' was the high-end counter called the 'Privileged Counter' it contains the general food menu as well as high-end dishes served in many famous restaurants. But the taste and materials used for the 'general food menu' of 'Privileged Counter' was way better than that of GFC. The items were carefully picked and elegantly made. The price difference between the two was huge too.
So, due to this the sitting arrangement of the 'poor students' that usually can afford dishes from GFC and the 'privileged ones' were different too. The 'poor groups' had to sit around their own counter and the 'rich groups' preferably sit around their own counter making a clear invisible line right in the middle of the hall. None of the 'poor group' had ever went towards the other side to sit and have their food.
Dianna, Kale, and Marcus were not that poor that they can't afford the 'high-priced' food but they were able to afford it daily. In addition to this, they befriended Alyssa who was the poorest among the poor so obviously they rolled down to the 'poor people' list.
Alyssa made her way towards the Privileged Counter. Marcus had asked her to buy the most expensive food item on the list and she had no idea what that item was.
Just as she crossed the middle line to go to the other side the whole cafeteria fell silent. Each and every eye was on her. They knew a drama was soon to take place so everybody was watching her like a hawk. Alyssa felt uncomfortable under their stares so she kept her head down and allowed her hairs to cover her face from both sides.
She was going towards the counter as fast as she could to place her order. She didn't notice that somebody had placed their foot right in her way to trip her. Alyssa stumbled and hold the table to steady herself.
”God Alyssa! Open your mind”, she berated herself. It was way too foolish for her that she would fall and harm herself just by these petty 80s pranks.
Obviously the girl that tried to trip her felt upset because she didn't fall.
”Peasant”, the girl mocked. Alyssa ignored her and walked towards the counter, making the girl more upset.
Violet was sitting on the very same table with the girl called, Martha. Martha was her lackey, so she felt angry when Alyssa ignored Martha. It was insulting to her.
She swept her hands over the table, making all the cutleries fall on the ground, breaking them.
Alyssa ignored the commotion taking place behind her back and concentrated on finding the highest priced food item on the menu. ”Fast Alyssa, get out of their zone.” She was chanting it on and on like a mantra. It was not that she was afraid of Violet. What she really wanted was to avoid another trouble that was going to take place on the same day and obviously due to the same person.
Violet was angry the whole day. Her plan of kicking Alyssa out of the school had failed. But she was comforting herself saying that at least she got her wounded. But now seeing Alyssa her anger resurfaced.
”How could this peasant ignore me? Doesn't she really wanted to live?” Violet thought.
By that time Alyssa had found the costliest item on the menu and ordered it. Her voice sounded pretty loud in the silent cafeteria.
