18 Scarred Hearts (1/2)
”D...don't cry,” Hyuk attempted to push himself off the ground, wincing. He wiped away her tears with an unsteady hand.
They had returned to their room after she toiled for a long time, dragging them with her as quickly as her small and weak built allowed.
”B-but... hic—” Yeo Ri sniffled. She was tearing up again after seeing their bodies so battered and bruised.
Gun patted her head, ”Don't worry. We won't die from this.” He attempted to smile, but thanks to the pain, it came off as a grimace. Thankfully, he could have some time to rest since tomorrow was the weekends.
”...” Yeo Ri looked down at the first-aid box in her hands with a crestfallen look. Even if they didn't die, weren't they in a world of pain? She hated days like these the most. Seeing her brothers get hurt and treating their wounds seemed to always rip a new gash over her already scarred heart.
”Let's go to the hospital tomorrow and get your wounds treated properly, okay?” She softly pleaded. She alternated between the two men with tears glistening in her eyes.
It was a look that was hard to resist.
Though they hadn't wanted to go to the hospital, for the sake of placating the girl, the two begrudgingly promised to head to the hospital first thing tomorrow.
”Get some rest, okay?” She carefully tucked them into bed, kissing both their cheeks. Soon after, the two immediately fell asleep due to the exhaustion.
After making sure that they were unconscious, Yeo Ri secretly took Hyuk's phone, slipping out of the room.
She wanted to use it, but the lock caused her to be stuck. She frowned, confused.
The lock required a four-digit password, and she had no idea what it was. She had tried all the simple digits like 1111 and 1234, but they were wrong. She tried keying in his birthday, but it only caused the phone to time out for 30 seconds.
”Just what is it...” she mumbled in irritation. If she knew this was going to happen, she should have just taken Gun's phone. At least his didn't require a password. Unfortunately, she did not memorise the number for the person she was going to call, so she had to look it up on Hyuk's phone.
Finally, the time out period ended.
She stared at the keypad long and hard, wishing it would show her the answer. She tried inputting other number sequences, but none worked.
The second time out lasted for a whole minute.
She thought back to Hyuk. What numbers would he use as his password...?
Suddenly, something appeared in her mind. ”It couldn't be...” she laughed it off. But, once the idea appeared, it stuck in her head.
In the end, she tried it anyway.
Yeo Ri keyed in a very familiar number, and surprisingly, the phone unlocked.
