31 ACT NINE: Scene 2 (1/1)
@@
Early in the morning in Akanji's neighbourhood, a man runs towards his house shouting. He rushes outside to see what is happening and sees the figure. Iya-agba who is busy outside dashes inside and starts to peep through the window. Akanji comes out to meet the man who informs him that his sawmill is razed by fire while his close friend is the only one who lost his life in the fire disaster. He is receiving this news when Risi's father surfaces.
Baba Risi: [Surprised on sighting Akanji] I thought she said you were incapacitated.
[Akanji, still moody, looked at the man and gave no reply.]
Baba Risi: [continues] Your wife came to us yesterday and told us you have gone blind and that you have been taken to an herbalist for treatment. She even took her mother with her to go and see you but I learnt you are actually here in the village. And that is why I've come to see you. Is it
true?
