” But what?” asked Maria
” they said, that a nobleman can marry more than one wife but he needs to mary a noblewoman first, so there is no running from this.”
Maria still didn't like this idea of Political marriage, especially when her son is the one being involved in this and Roger can see the dissatisfaction her eyes
”It's the king's orders” Roger looked at his wife with an understanding expression but they have no choice in this. he looked at his son who hasn't spoken from the beginning until now ” Do you really accept this? if you want I can try again for your sake” said Roger, his words made Mikasa have some hope in her heart but Ace next words made her drop her head low with sadness
” It's alright, we don't need any unwanted trouble with the king,” said Ace, he can see what the king is aiming at ” So they want to make us close to them so we won't be able to move freely. they locked us” he said but his eyes held some light in them ” As for locking our movement, they succeeded by Promoting our family to a duke rank but I can't understand why the marriage is needed? ”
Everyone in the room had the same question on their minds, especially Mikasa, why the marriage?
Roger sighed and said ” It's not you and the girl who will be married” Roger's words confused everyone
”It's our families that will be married, meaning that you work as the living evidence of our family and the Reiss family joining together,” He said, he didn't stop her and continued
” The Reiss family is responsible for Keeping the military in order and supplying them with food and equipment,” he said ” According to Duke Reiss, they plan on making us take care of supplying the Military with food and other necessities that the Reiss family had to do, as of lately, the Reiss family is in dire situation and can't keep supplying the military for long” Rogers expression turned serious as he remembers the Rod Reiss that day, he could see the greed in his eyes and the others too

The atmosphere in the room turned gloomy as everyone felt bad about this situation
Ace, on the other hand, thinks that they all just exaggerating this situation, basically, they gave his family some power over the military which he appreciates and made his father have a strong standing in the wall, something he always wanted. his power now is only below to that of the 5 councels and some military leaders. it all works in their favor but his parent's overprotectiveness and love for him is blinding them for the moment, he knows that after calming down they will see the bigger picture
