Chapter 1369 Divine Eye (1/2)
Zhou Yuan dazedly stared at Yaoyao's left eye, which seemed to be full of ancient mysteries, like the eye of a divine being. However, that cold and indifferent gaze resembled a god looking down on mortal beings, and the pressure it faintly released made Zhou Yuan feel extremely uncomfortable.
Hu.
But he drew a deep breath, forcibly suppressing his emotions. Then he reached for Yaoyao’s hand. “What's the matter?”
Yaoyao said softly, “I think it’s because I overexerted myself and accelerated the divinity’s recovery.”
Zhou Yuan was silent. The awakening of Yaoyao’s divinity represented supreme power, but no one was certain what would happen after the divinity was truly restored. Would Yaoyao still retain her consciousness then?
“I'm sorry…it’s because I’m not strong enough.” Zhou Yuan’s voice sounded pained. If he was strong enough, Yaoyao wouldn’t need to do anything.
A strand of hair drooped down to cover Yaoyao’s left eye as she stretched out her icy little hands, and placed them on Zhou Yuan's cheeks. She said sincerely, “Zhou Yuan, don’t say that. I know, I know you have worked harder than anyone else to make yourself stronger. I know what you want to change when you become stronger. Your accomplishments aren’t inferior to anyone’s. Also, I believe you will reach that step one day.”
Yaoyao had witnessed with her own eyes how the youngster, whose eight meridians were blocked at the beginning, overcame one obstacle after another over the years. Outsiders would only know about the miracles he had created, but they didn’t know how much effort he had put in to achieve them.
It was brought about by wandering between life and death.
Although Zhou Yuan always claimed that he was the king of living off women, Yaoyao understood that he only did that to spur himself on. Even if the gap between them in terms of strength and status was as great as a chasm, Zhou Yuan had never given up.
He constantly sped along the thorny road. Even if he was covered with cuts and bruises and even if there were many obstacles, he still unwaveringly moved forward.
This was what Yaoyao liked most about him.
Yaoyao had become more and more cold and detached over the years because of the divinity, but she still retained her human nature because of Zhou Yuan. In Yaoyao’s heart, Zhou Yuan was the light that guided her and made her able to resist the divinity’s corrosion. Feeling the soft and icy touch from Yaoyao’s little hands, Zhou Yuan smiled at Yaoyao. He knew he wasn’t strong enough. It was just that his heart ached too much when he saw the changes in Yaoyao.
He quickly composed his emotions and said in a serious voice, “In the future, don’t use that power unless you really need to. Yaoyao, you have to remember that although all-heavens regard you as the last hope, no one can force you to do what you don’t want. Someone will eventually come forward from all-heavens. If all-heavens don’t have such a potential, then…”
Zhou Yuan's expression was grave but resolute. ”Perhaps destruction is better than dragging out its existence.”
Yaoyao stared dazedly at Zhou Yuan. It was only after a good while that the corners of her lips curled slightly upwards and a light gently flashed in her eyes. How wouldn’t she know what all-heavens expected of her? She of course didn’t like that expectation, but that perhaps was her responsibility and she couldn’t escape from it.
But Zhou Yuan told her that he would support her no matter what choice she made and that she shouldn’t be bound by the so-called responsibility forced onto her.
This showed that Yaoyao’s position in Zhou Yuan’s heart was even higher than all-heavens. Yaoyao also knew that the ‘someone’ that Zhou Yuan mentioned would likely come forward was himself.
She stretched out her slender arms and wrapped them around Zhou Yuan's neck, and then pressed her red lips on it, giving him a soft but cold feeling. Even his Spirit seemed to be trembling after that.
