Chapter 857: Freys dominance (1/2)

Frey lost in his thoughts to notice the signalling among some elders.

Nevertheless, after getting the reply from his tribe elders, Frey continued to explain, ”Earlier, they asked us to be careful for the next one month; however, within an hour, the order changed into a rewarding mission. So, I feel there is something fishy about it.”

”Last time also, you stopped us from one of the rewarding missions and because of that, the other fox tribes has caught up to us.”

As soon as Frey finished his words, all the elders remained silent for a moment before one of the elders countered Frey's word with a scoff.

”Tribe leader, stop being paranoid for nothing.”

”Why will the summoner's group try to harm us?”

”If any of our rival tribes become stronger after this mission, the fall of our tribe will be because of your poor decision.”

As soon as the first elder of the grey-furred fox tribe spoke, some other elders supported the first elder and said a few more things which made Frey and the rest of the elders' frown at those words.

'Are they planning to rebel?'

'The first elder has always eyed the tribe leader's position and gathered some supporters for a moment like this. I think there will be a fight for the tribe leader position today.'

'What do you think? Who are you going to support?'

'Who? Of course, the one who is going to win.'

Soon, the other elders stopped frowning as they guessed what was going on and started discussing each other.

In the fox tribes, it is a tradition that the first elder can always challenge the tribe leader for the tribe leader position and as long as he wins, the entire tribe will accept the winner as their leader.

So, no elder bothered to pick a side and waited until the first elder issued a challenge to the tribe leader.

Also, there was another thing. Because of the rapid grooming of the 28 fox tribes, their intelligence is not better than a 15 year old human. As long as there was a reward in front of them, they would not think much about anything except for the reward.

However, Frey was a little different from other fox tribesmen. Even though he was not too intelligent, he could sense when there was something wrong and since he is the tribe leader of the grey-furred fox tribe, he had to protect them with his life.

As for the first elder of the tribe, who was eyeing the position of the tribe leader, he started his rebellion right now because he felt what Frey had done dissatisfied many tribesmen which included some elders.

So, he thought it was the right time to execute his plan.

”Are you challenging me to a duel?”

The frown on Frey's face disappeared as he stood up from his chair and asked the first elder with a slight smile on his face.

There was nothing wrong in challenging the tribe leader; however, the intentions of the challenger should be good for the tribe.

However, Frey could guess that his first elder only wants power rather than the safety of the tribe.

”Instead of having a cowardly tribe leader, I want a brave tribe leader who never fears anything.”

As for the first elder, he didn't answer Frey directly; instead, he said that Frey was a cowardly tribe leader whereas he would be a brave one.

”Stop the nonsense. If not for my intuition, our grey-furred tribe would have long disappeared from the face of this five elemental world.”

Frey became a little serious after hearing those words and replied to the first elder that made the elder a little shivered.

”Anyway, if you want a challenge, just say it. No need to act all righteous in front of others because everyone knows what kind of person you are.”

Controlling his anger, Frey asked whether he wanted to challenge him or not.

”...”

When the first elder saw Frey's face, for some reason, he felt a bad premonition in his heart and remained silent for a second.

”If you are not challenging me, just step aside and keep your mouth shut.”

Frey scoffed at the first elders and looked at the other elders and asked, ”If anyone thinks my decision is wrong, you can prove me by winning against me in a challenge; otherwise, just keep your mouth shut.'

Until now, Frey thought he should not show his tyranny towards his own tribe members; however, today, he felt why the tribe leaders of the old three fox tribes were very cruel towards their tribe members.
