Chapter 238 - As soft as (1/2)
After taking a short shower, Jinhee had a towel around her shoulder, and her phone began ringing up at that moment.
Han Taehyun had gone outside to bring some midnight snacks as she was planning to pull on an all-nighter, and without snacks, Jinhee wouldn't be able to make through the night.
Going over to her bed, Jinhee picked up her phone, and as she did, she read Sooah, Hyunbin's mother, on the screen.
Jinhee had a clear idea on what she calling. After all, it was understandable that as Hyunbin's parents, both her and Yoojoon would worry on this matter.
Receiving the call, she placed the phone beside her ear as she sat back on the bed. Whilst wiping her hair, using the towel, with one of her hand, she held on to the phone with the other.
”Hello, Sooah Ahjumma,” Jinhee voiced out.
”Oh! Jinhee-ah, hello! About what happened with Hyunbin, uhm, I don't know how to say it,” Sooah started— nervousness noticeable in her voice.
”Ahjumma, you can trust in Hyunbin. He did nothing such as stealing papers. I am afraid someone is framing him, and that someone has connections with influential people,” Jinhee voiced out.
Min Sooah let out a sigh and said, ”That boy! I always tell him to be careful! Finally, he has offended someone powerful, and now, he has to suffer! That idiot needs someone to beat him up to the point that he gains any common sense.”
”Ahjumma, it might be not someone he offended as well and could just be a pawn for revenge on some other person.
Anyway, Ahjumma, I will make sure that Hyunbin gives his exams, so please send him to school tomorrow regardless of what he does. Moreover, isn't it a good thing that Hyunbin did not steal the papers?” Jinhee voiced out.
Guilt stabbed her, and she found it hard to lift up her mood. Although their post was getting lots of postive attention, she was afraid; This is definitely not Youngmi's last attack. This was simply the beginning.
A chill went down her back at that thought, and goosebumps formed on her body. She stopped rubbing her hair with the towel.
”I suppose it is, Jinhee,” Sooah voiced out, ”Are you sure that it will be a good idea to send him to school tomorrow? You know how his temper works, and someone says something, he will not waste a second before starting to beat them up.”
”It must be touggh, possibly even impossible, to put your trust into me, Ahjumma, but I will definitely make Hyunbin give the exams.
Don't worry too much, Ahjumma, and take care of yourself and Father. Since he is my younger brother, I will definitely take responsibility,” Jinhee voiced out while wearing a slight smile upon her face.
”It's the thought that counts, Jinhee-ah. Thank you so much for what you had done until now. All I wish now is for Hyunbin to become more normal, I suppose. This is all because of how we spoiled him, and this is our fault,” Sooah lamented.
”Let bygones be bygones, Ahjumma,” Jinhee stated, ”You did not raise up Hyunbin that bad. Even though he is violent and all, he won't go into doing anything dishonest. He just needs someone to guide him properly.”
At that moment, the door in front of Lee Jinhee began to open, and she realized that Taehyun had arrived. In both of Taehyun's hand was two polythene bags filled with snacks.
She then voiced out, ”I'll be hanging up then, Ahjumma; There are exams tomorrow. I need to study, and make sure Hyunbin studies as well! After all the effort I am putting into this, I don't want to see him fail.”
”Yes! I will make sure to do that, Jinhee-ah, so take care of yourself! Make us proud! We believe you can do it,” Sooah vocalised.
Hearing those words from Min Sooah made a small smile spread on to Jinhee's face whilst she felt warmth consume her.
This was the first time she had felt parental encouragement, and even though Sooah wasn't her birth mother, it made joy rise within her. She really wanted to be a part of the Min family.
”Jinhee-ah, your Dad believes in you! Ace that exam, and regardless of what you do, I know that my daughter is the best!”
She heard Yoojoon's voice, and the smile on her face reached her eyes. Tears glistened at the corner of her eyes as she found herself being overwhelmed.
”Thank you, Father, Ahjumma! I will make sure to do well,” Jinhee vocalised— her happiness being clearly noticeable in her tone.
”Then, we will not be disturbing you anymore. Make sure to rest properly and eat properly before that exam,” Sooah said.
”Yes,” Jinhee replied before Min Sooah hung up the call.
