Chapter 8 - Monstrosity (1/2)

Kyle: ”Mam, I have betted my chance with Colonel Phillips, I have no mood of fearing expulsion.”

We reached the resting area and waited for others to come. We were than excused to rest for rest of the day. I was waiting for the clock to reach 5 so I can have my match with Colonel Phillips.

{5 P.M. the same day}

Sun was setting down, the sky was red. I was standing in the shooting range with Steve, waiting for Colonel Phillips. Suddenly I heard a sound of footstep approaching us. Yes, colonel was coming near us. {Using Col for Phillips}

Col: ”you are really stubborn, right? Wait I have asked for some people to witness so you don't whɨnė later on.”

Suddenly a group of 4 people approached including Agent Carter.

Carter: ”Don't mind me. I am just here to watch.”

After 5 min of preparation.

Col: ”Are you ready, boy?”

Kyle: ”Yes sir, seniors first.”

Col: ”Don't whɨnė later.”

Saying that he picked up a rifle and started shooting the 50-m targets. He shot 3 targets in 30 sec more or less. Everyone was applauding for his feat.

He asked the instructor to check the score.

Instructor: ”Shot 3 50-m targets 2 bullseye and one yellow. Total 29 points.”

Col: ”Still want to continue?”

I just picked up the rifle and locked its sight on targets. 'Just you wait ȧsshole'. Locking the target, I put the rifle back down.

Col: ”What pissed your pants? No one can handle the pressure of arms and out tried to challenge me. Now get your ȧss out here.”

I didn't say anything for the moment and I was adjusting myself to the high flow of knowledge regarding the marksmanship. After a moment I spoke.

Kyle: ”I have locked onto my targets. Waiting for your orders.”

Col: ”Good, never forgot the discipline. Now fire on your will.”

I went to Agent Carter and asked for her pistol. She was a little hesitant but gave it to me.

Like owner like gun, a pure beauty, black in colour.

Col: ”You want to shoot 50-m targets with a pistol. Whatever just it fast. Now fire.”

Listening to his command I shot three rounds in less than 2 seconds.

They were shocked.

Instructor: ”Shot 3 50-m targets all missed. Total 0 points”

Col: ”You sure talk big.”

I asked instructor to check the 100-m targets and returned the pistol to Agent Carter.

After some time. The instructor came back.

Instructor: ”Shot 3 100-m targets 3 bullseye. Total 30 points”

There was silence in the surrounding. You can hear breathing of people. Then colonel said.

Col: ”Soldier, unpack your bags and report to me at sharp 0800 hours in the morning.”

Kyle: ”Yes sir.”

Kyle: ”What happened, Steve.”

Steve: ”You won; you jerk. I thought you was a goner. How do you shot without looking and when did you learn it?”

Kyle: (shrugging my shoulders) ”A magician never reveals its secret.”

We both started moving toward our beds and we found Hodge in near the shooting range. He wasn't making eye contact with me, maybe he has seen my marksmanship.

Next day in morning 0800 I was near Col. Phillips office he asked me to change my instructor and ȧssigned me to Sergeant Paul Roods. He is our special combat instructor. I got under his special group. Today was my day of I just slept rest of the day.
