Long, far away from the arid deserts of the Great Sai, beyond the savannah plains and mountain steppes, are the great eastern jungles of Shurima. Shrouded in mystery, they harbor wild and fantastic beasts and dense forests full of life. But for all the beauty out there, there is also danger and death lurking.

No one knows how Nidalee ended up being alone in the middle of the jungle. Dressed in mere rags, the newborn child sat alone on the verdant ground, and his cry echoed among the trees.

No doubt that's what attracted the cougars.

A mother passing by with her puppies approached the girl, perhaps smelling something familiar… or at least something worth saving. Without hesitation she welcomed Nidalee, who sometimes followed her and sometimes had to be dragged by her back to the den.

The girl lived in the company of beasts, running and playing with her new brothers, without any contact with her own kind or any mortal. The cougars raised Nidalee as a forest creature, and over the years she became a skilled hunter. But while her guardians used teeth and claws, Nidalee learned to take advantage of everything around her. She made fruit-ointment ointments, used flowers that shone to light the night, and even explosive seeds to send trevoguaris in the air.

Even so, from time to time, Nidalee felt that she lost control over her own body. Suddenly, without warning, his hands and feet began to alternate between human form and beast form. Sometimes she would fall from the den, delirious with fever, following the hazy silhouettes of two strange figures. They called softly for her, in a confused but loving way. They gave Nidalee a feeling of comfort and warmth, though the cougars had taught her to always be suspicious of outsiders.

And with good reason.
