Chapter 126 - Flower Blooming (1/2)
Sadness was what befall the house of the Mills that day. Henry was not in the mansion that day, he had gone on a trip with his school friends, and so he was out. How much he regretted it.
Beth returned to her house after the funeral and stayed inside without making a move. The other servants were trying to talk to her, but she didn't answer. Her friends were also calling her and even Grandpa Mills came back from his business trip to give her a bit of comfort.
However, the little girl's soul seemed to have disappeared from the world. There was no shine in her golden eyes, there was no laugh in her silly mouth, nor her hair was as beautiful as before.
She secluded herself in a corner of her parents' room and stayed there watching. No tears, nor anything, but just watching.
”Beth,” Henry came back after a few days. It was too late to know about what had happened as the island he went to spend the vacation on had a storm, and he couldn't go back earlier. ”Beth!”
He shouted when he opened the door to the small house, he was sweating and panting. From the moment he went through the gates of the mansion, he ran to the house of the Smiths without minding his travel-worn state.
However, he didn't see anyone. There was no cute little girl with golden eyes and red hair.
One by one, the doors were opened by his hands. He looked everywhere but he couldn't find her. Her things were inside her room, her cellphone, her bracelet, her clothes, even her money, and id.
Suddenly… he realized it, she was trying to escape.
He called his guards right then. Then an extensive search was launched to the town, even the country. Everywhere.
”Where is she?!” He shouted but there was no response.
His men were kneeling and bowing with regretful eyes. They all knew the little girl, they had seen her grown with the care of the Smiths. They all were fascinated by her silly smile and her strange behaviors. So they regretted it, so much, to be distracted the moment she went out.
Henry kept the search open. Not a single day for two years he had rested and slept peacefully while he kept looking for her.
”My boy,” his grandpa walked to him while Henry was reviewing some reports in his hands. ”I have great news!”
Henry looked up and nodded. His indifferent face had been his constant expression for the last two years. Nothing could make him show a bit of joy, not even his grandpa.
”What is it, Grandfather?”
”Do you remember my great old friend, Master Hesse?”
Henry nodded, the Hesse family was one of the most powerful families in the country. If they were in the same industry, they could be considered rivals. Luckily they weren't.
”He had found his long-lost granddaughter,” the old man laughed out loud, ”we are going to engage you two.”
”What?” Henry's voice was filled with a dark feeling.
Master Mill raised a brow. He knew that Henry won't like it a bit.
”I am saying that if she had not disappeared for that long, you two would be little sweethearts and be engaged at this moment.”
”I don't want to…”
”You don't have a choice,” he smirked.
”I won't do it!” Henry stood up and tried to walk away.
”I will give the company to your uncle if you don't,” Henry stopped in his tracks.
The past few years he had been doing the missions and also keeping his hands in the company through Jano's help. He was, after all, a little genius. He had invested most of his time in that company and even making friends that he didn't like.
If the old man chose to give those achievements of his own to that idiot greedy uncle, then he will have to fight with different and more complicated methods. Even harming the old man, and he didn't want that.
Grandpa Mills sighed. He understood his blood and his grandson, he also didn't want to fight. ”I will give you a chance, go meet her and share a talk with her, even some meals. However, if you don't like her, you can say no.”
Henry frowned, it was evident that he would not even want to be a step closer to her.
”Well…” the old man smiled slyly, ”she also had the same option, though. She might even reject you.”
The old man left while laughing at the silly face of Henry. The arrogant brat thought he was above anyone and that the only worthy of him was Beth.
After a few weeks, the new school term began, and he hadn't even said a word to that granddaughter of the Hesse family. It seemed that she didn't want to meet him for a single time.
Even the school she attended was one of the commoners, instead of the one from the elite families. He thought that maybe she was scared to be bullied by all those brats of high society. 'What a disgusting coward,' he thought and stopped minding about her.
However, as fate was working different from the time he accepted the missions of Mellie, the last year of high school, he received a note. Another mission.
”What is this?”
