Chapter 68 - Find the Spy (Part 3) (1/2)

”Anne, my dear bride, I…” Henry began to say, however, a fragile finger stopped him from saying another word. The mischievous glint of a pair of golden eyes shined with the sunrays and Henry smiled at the beautiful girl seating in his legs. Even if he was happy and a smile couldn't help but appear on his face, he was certain that this little girl was scheming something, and was anxious about something, if not the many fruit tarts on the table wouldn't be able to reach a record number. 'Should I stop her from eating that much? Will she be hurt?'

”You don't need to say anything, my dear,” Anne said in a small whisper and with a bright smile on her face, ”I believe in you.”

Then, as her usual flirty nature and her shameless ways to distract innocent souls, she leaned forward and kissed his right cheek. The happiness that invaded Henry's heart was much more than the helplessness growing in his mind. However…

”That is not… Anne, don't you have to give me an explanation?”

The cute Anne was now making circles in Henry's ċhėst as if she were not feeling anywhere guilty for what he made him go through. For God's sake, she made him act like a bait for her little trap and didn't dare to inform her.

”Anne,” Henry stopped her finger that was making him blush and stop thinking with rationality. He can't deny he liked it very much as everything she did. However, even if he wanted to float in the strange cloud of foolish happiness with her as a couple of lovebirds and let her get away with it, this time, he wanted to know every single detail. It was not a simple issue, after all.

”That…”

”Anne?” his bright green eyes shined gently at her and his lips were already sending a kiss to her forehead. ”Don't you trust me?”

Anne's heart was beating so hard and strong that it was difficult to breathe. ”I trust you, but…”

”What?”

”Promise that you won't get mad,” she fluttered her eyes and looked at him again. ”Okay?”

”Did you make something to make me mad?”

She started making circles on his ċhėst again, that was the way the Queen had taught her to control the idiot King's heart. Now, it was time to test it on her beloved.

”You can never be mad at me. Okay?”

Her little fingers were truly effective. She was about to thaw the common sense of the boy that was about to stop breathing, she knew that he would never be able to do anything to make her sad.

”Okay,” he said, though, she didn't need to ask it, he could never be angry with her, no matter what she did. However, this time, well, that little statement in his heart was going to be tested.

”Then… my dear bride, you should start speaking…”

She lifted her head and kissed him on his lips. ”Okay,” she smiled but then his hand covered her eyes for a moment.

”Henry?”

”Just give me a second,” Henry knew that his heart was showing right now on his face. He couldn't believe that after so many years, she can manage to sent shivers to his spine and heat to his ears, just with a little flutter of her eyes.

He had to breathe hard and after some seconds he returned to his usual face.

”Henry? Should I start?” she smiled as she knew what kind of face he was making right now.

”Yes,” he said while looking at her cute little face with those golden eyes that he so liked so much to see and will give anything to see them every day. Even the mischievous smile and the cute dimple on the right cheek that was only for him to look and touch. ”Go ahead, my bride.”

She smiled when the enchanting green eyes gazed at her with such gentleness that it was a crime.

Then just before she could be swayed away by those eyes, she looked around to see if anyone was near them, fortunately, they were alone in the garden, so she sighed a sigh of relief, after all, her next words may start a terrifying storm.

”Well then… everything started when…”

[POV: Anne's version of the events…]

As I was saying before, everything started when I pushed the golden fish to the pond eight years ago, do you still remember? I will never be able to forget it. That Collin guy looked so drenched and speechless. Well… sigh… because of that, my mother ordered for me to be locked without food for an entire week. I don't know how many kilos I lost that week… sigh. How terrifying. Please don't let anyone torture me like that again, my darling.

”…”
