Chapter 3: [The Cliche Beginning] (1/2)
”Marcus...Marcus! Wake Up”
His mom's voice approached the sleepy head from the kitchen.
Gradually unwrapping his eyes, Marcus rolled up in his bed. He jerked his head before reaching for the specs beside him on the side table.
”What time is it?”
Marcus inquired himself in his soft undeveloped voice.
The Alarm beside him was indicating at 8 in the forenoon as he lent a sluggish glimpse to it.
”Ah... It's just 8 am... Tsk”
”.............”
”IT'S 8 AM!!!”
Marcus's eyes expanded as he discovered that he only had half an hour left until his Awakening Test!!.
”The Alarm didn't ring as usual Goddammit!!”
(It Did)
Gritting his teeth, Marcus scurried to his bathroom attached to his room and yanked the toothbrush from its holder in an abrupt motion.
Just within a minute, Speedy Marcus had completed brushing his teeth and was out in his room after his lightspeed bath.
His straight red hair was moist, hanging loosely on his forehead like a towel on the rope out in the rain. Marcus shoved his 150cm short body towards his wardrobe and clenched his underwear along with a T-shirt and a pair of black and blue denim jeans from his wardrobe.
After selecting the black one, Marcus jumped on his bed and yanked the pant up to his waist.
He was already diving down the steps when his Mom yelled for him again. But he gave her no ears.
”I am going!! Bye, Mom!!”
”Wait, Marcus!! You didn't have your breakfast yet!!”
”It's OK mom!! I'll share tiffin with Dave.”
Marcus dashed to his Dad who was flipping through the newspaper in the living room.
The redhead yanked his dad's hand and settled it on his head.
”You need my blessing?”
”No... My hair's wet”
Albert chuckled as he heated his hand, rendering the moisture on his son's hair evaporate into smoke.
”Thank you... Bye, Dad!”
'CLACK'
The door shut behind Marcus as he ran. He had to reach the Academy ASAP!!. Why you ask???. Let me explain while he runs. Today was the day he was waiting for because today was the day he activates, or rather speaking in revoker terms, awakens his seed, and yeah it was also the final day in his school.
A train of notions sprung in his mind as he ran full speed to 'The Krozon Inter Academy'.
One of them being 'I hope she at her breakfast'
...........
Marcus took hold of his breath ultimately as he grazed the gates of his Academy. His eyes dwindled and his mouth merrily pouted as he heeded a knowledgeable voice behind his crouched-up presence.
”Dumbo, You late too?”
Dave scuffled behind him, wheezing hard.
Marcus grinned at the view of his friend, who was stooping against the wall with his hands on his knees. His spiky yellow hair was clammy with sweat, and his boots were shrouded in dust. Dave slicked his hair back with his hand and spat phlegm on the ground.
Dave who was athletic and tall, a whole 180 cm at the age of 16, arose like a goliath when he posed beside Marcus.
Dave Vagner, the expanse he had to traverse to school was far more than Marcus could ever imagine. His parents were Peasant Seed users after all, who worked in the fields as Farmers.
They lived in the very south in the capital city in the lands allocated for farmers and fields. It was no joke to reach the Academy at the very center from his house.
”Hi, Grandpa Dave”
”Shut Up you frickin 4 eyed Lizard”
Both of them cackled at each other while their lungs endeavored to catch a breath.
After the hiatus of an entire minute, they started strolling towards the Academy. Now that they had time to spare, anxiety had died down -- at least the uncertainty of reaching school late.
The Krozon academy was the heftiest in the continent if not on the planet. The only reason he got approved to the Academy was that his Dad was one of the mages under the king. His Mother and Father were brilliant Mages possessing Unique Seeds and Dominator Soul levels.
But it existed as yore as soon as Marcus took his origin. His mother had to give up her vocation as a mage and take care of him. His dad was disgruntled and unhappy at the fact that his wife had to give up her allegiance as a mage, he was more than ready to renounce his obligation so that his wife could fulfill her dream as an aspiring mage.
Because his father thought ”GENDER EQUALITY RULES”.
But she denied her husband's overture and gave up her envisions for Marcus, for her son. Today was the day he had to prove that her effort was not in vain.
*TRING*
The brimming flashbacks of his 16 years of life disheveled as the piercing echo of the hall bell invited his consciousness. Marcus along with Dave pursued the students permeating their distinct grades.
Marcus was in Class A along with his boyhood friend Dave. Dave, who was his sole friend, pal, and comrade from the blooming age of 5 till now was the one who aided him throughout the tough, agonizing Academy days.
Marcus recalled those days when they were dragged to a corner and clobbered by the King's 2nd Son and his friends. Then he realized, There was nothing to recall because it occurred every single day of his school life.
Then he thought, doesn't being royalty mean he's supposed to act like one?. 'Where's his dignity as a prince?'. 'Why would he stoop low to just clobber some weak dudes?'
Realization yet again was cruel as it hit him.
'Yea, he'll stoop that low alright!' *Sigh*
He should've complained of the atrocities committed by the King's younger son. But Dave asserted that it wasn't going to do them good if not cause them more trouble because the entire academy was funded by the King himself.
The only thing they could do was to keep quiet and endure... endure even if they didn't want to. If only if they had an endurance stat then it would have maxed out.
”Hey, Marcus... Oi Marcus!!”
Dave whacked Marcus behind his ears and tugged it closer.
”There she is... your soul mate hehe”
Dave edged towards the door with a chuckle, where a girl was leaning. She overlooked the class as she was chatting with her friends.
The girl had violet stripes of hair between her blue unbend hair. Her eyes were bright and her irises were a mix of sky blue and violet. She wore a Black Camis on top and a Denim attended her bottom.
'She is an Angel'
Red lines of embarrassment and blush drizzled across Marcus's cheeks as he saw her laugh.
Alisha Eleanor, The most gorgeous girl in the Academy and Of course Marcus's crush along with some other thousand boys. Marcus was lost in his dream when Dave smacked him again.
”This is your... our last day here..What do you think? Wanna give it a try?”
Marcus turned red again, he knew what Dave meant, but was he ready?.
”No way, She is outta my league dude”.
Dave raised his hand again. His palms faced him.
”Stop it, Okay Okay..I'll try”
Marcus drew a paper from his bag and slid it into his left hand.
”What's that???”
”This my boy is a Writer's way of proposing”
Marcus smiled smugly.
”That's the lamest way too”
Dave replied without sugar-coating his words.
Sheepish, Marcus stood up and forced his trembling legs to move. His whole body was shivering as he made his way towards Alisha.
Just before he reached her, his nervousness compelled him to hurl a final glimpse at Dave. He hailed Marcus with both of his thumbs up.
”Okay... Here I Go”
”Ali...Sha”
*Gasp*
”What ya doin' Scumbag?”
Marcus jerked back as a figure welcomed his vision.
”Ga..Ga...Gabriel?”
A punch clutched Marcus on his jaw, thrusting his frail physique to tumble back into a table.
”Who gave you the permission to call me by my name you insignificant bastard??”
Gabriel Richard, the 2nd son of the king and the most popular boy in the academy stood above Marcus. His image itself proved him to be Royalty.
Gabriel had his green hair slicked back by gel. His face was pristine without any acne. His gaze was sharp as his raven black irises shined down on Marcus.
Gabriel wore a gold coated jacket and jeans made out of the real deal!!. His attire glistened as the daylight hit him through the open window.
Along with the stature of being the king's younger son, Gabriel had a brother. Arthur Richard, A Legendary Seed user ratifying his tremendous Seed level with the Soul level of a Dominator, also the one ranking 5th in the Revokers list which just amplified turmoil to Marcus's already brimming issues.
A bit confounded, Marcus, sat up and brushed his palms. His jaw throbbed as it moaned in pain. Marcus was pretty fragile since his childhood. The number of times they had visited the doctor was uncountable.
Even after being forced to take nutrients, Marcus just couldn't urge himself to consume them. His body was crumbling, and he knew it. He would always marvel, why he was this vulnerable?. Even at the beginning age of 4, where most children were enthusiastic, he had relinquished his interest in play.
But things started to get a lot better from the day he met Dave. Dave was rather the immediate contrary of Marcus. Energetic as well as enthusiastic, Dave was the one who piqued the interest of the child in Marcus.
And it benefited him. It helped him by leaps and bounds. If it wasn't for Dave then this punch would have knocked him out cold.
”Ouch”
