Chapter 8: First impression matters (1/2)
Lucien's words left everyone, including instructor Han stunned for quite a while. It is general knowledge that the beast-men are the ruling race in this world or at least this empire, for that reason they have the right to act cocky and talk down to humans but even then there are certain lines one should not cross.
Lucien was a member of the Ktinos race( Beast-men) and is yet to undergo refinement. At his best, he should be stronger than the average man yet he dares to talk crap against a powerful mage at the mortal realm with a strong affinity to the space element which is considered rare just like the time element. Even the great-grandson of Emperor Fei, Hex was left stunned by this. He could understand if he or a member of the royal family did this but Lucien was only a member of the noble family. Knowing how the empire works, if the emperor deems Instructor Han more useful to the empire, he won't mind if Han kills Lucien.
”What did you just say, kid?” Instructor Han asked with knitted eyebrows.
He was 6ft tall (1.8 meters) and was practically breathing down on Lucien who was just 5'7 ft tall. Everyone standing around could see space ripples around them but even then Lucien showed no signs of fear. As the possible future heir to the Raizen clan and the most talented member of the clan, his fame has gone beyond their territory. He knew the eyes of the entire empire were on him and for that reason, Instructor Han would not kill him or at least not for such a trivial reason. The Raizen clan may be only at mid-tier in the magic beast ranking list but even then their strength is not something one human mage should underestimate.
In response, Lucien didn't speak, instead, he reached for the crystal orbs levitating right in front of Instructor Han. His grandfather always told him that when threatened, a show of strength is the best way to command the respect of the enemy.
Wooosh!
The moment his hands touched the two crystal orbs a strong breeze resonated from one while bolts of lightning resonated from the other.
CAAAAAAWWWWWWWWW!
Not willing to be outdone by anyone, Lucien decided to go all out here and make sure he leaves a deep impression in the mind of everyone present today. As the only member of his generation who can utilize the shift at such a young age, he dared not hold back when showcasing his strength.
First impression matters! He thought as he performed the shift.
Following the loud bird cry, the silver Raizen figure appeared behind him with its hands also placed on the two crystal orbs. Its vicious gaze was fixated on Instructor Han who was taken aback by the turn of events.
The other candidates were only capable of releasing a bright light which showed the nature of their ability but now, Lucien was able to draw out the true form of the element just by placing his hands on the crystal orb and the terrifying part to all of this was that his affinity to both wind and lighting is terrifying and none was inferior to the other.
