As Quan Shaoteng was exasperated, he felt that he needed to do something.

He took out his mobile phone and sent a message to the Gossip group chat.

“Bring it on!”

Nonetheless, Mei Xin didn’t respond to that at all.

Or rather, she didn’t even notice what he had said.

This Medical Examiner must have a problem inside her brain! he thought.

Or maybe the problem lies with her eyes instead?

Or did something happen and caused a deviation in her sense of beauty and taste?

Quan Shaoteng propped his forehead with a hand as the more he thought about it, the more he believed that that must have been the case. As he left the conference room and went upstairs to his dorm for a rest, he was looking at his phone over and over again. He almost fell from the stairs when he accidentally kicked a step.

She ignored him!

Ding! As he thought about that, he heard a notification from the Gossip group chat.

Quan Shaoteng quickly swiped his phone.

It was Salimu. He asked meekly, “Captain Quan, did you enter the wrong channel or something?”

Quan Shaoteng replied, “What do you mean?”

Salimu explained, “Did you send the message to the wrong chat?”

Quan Shaoteng retorted, “Which eye of yours saw that I sent the message to the wrong chat?”

Salimu was baffled. “So you… wanted to find people to play a game of mahjong?”

Quan Shaoteng got agitated. “I wanted to hit someone!”

Salimu paused for a while before replying. “With all due respect, Captain Quan, I think that… you might need to go to make a trip to the Forensics Team for a drug test.”

When Salimu sent the message, he had also pinged Mei Xin and Cheng Zheng.

“Seems like Captain Quan’s not himself, everyone please show more concern. I’m worried that he might have taken the wrong medicine!”

Quan Shaoteng was peeved. “Salimu! Are you itching to get beaten up?”

Salimu quickly replied, “I didn’t! I’m worried that you’re the one who’s itching…”

Quan Shaoteng took a look and flung his phone on his bed. He also fell on his bed, still feeling frustrated.

It was all quiet inside the group chat.

Mei Xin never responded whereas Cheng Zheng made a rather serious reply.

“Afternoon two to three o’clock, you can come if you’re free.”

This fellow actually joined in to make fun of me!

Quan Shaoteng did not talk in the group chat but he made a trip to Salimu’s office to deliver a vexed fist at the small framed Salimu on the chest.

At the hospital.

The sun showed up that day after the snow. Under the warm sun, it was bustling and busy. At the hospital, medical staff donned in white coats or uniforms were a common sight.

Bai Muchuan brought Xiang Wan and Tang Yuanchu to the hospital. They met up with the fake Xuan Yue’s attending doctor to discuss her condition. The doctor’s reply was similar to what Tang Yuanchu had reported earlier.

So far, she showed no signs of awakening.

Therefore, extracting useful information from her was not an option for now.

Tang Yuanchu went to talk to the two police officers who were guarding the fake Xuan Yue at the hospital. Bai Muchuan and Xiang Wan sat on the lounge chairs outside the ward, looking at the sunlight that shone through the thick glass windows. Xiang Wan’s thoughts wandered off for a moment before asking Bai Muchuan a question. “Do you think our plan will work?”

That we’ll beat them at their own game by setting up a trap? he thought.

Bai Muchuan’s eyes were shining brightly but his tone was low and serious. “That would depend on how important she is to Dark Clan.”

Xiang Wan pursed her lips in thought. “You’re right. But we’ve spent so much effort and it was not easy to catch her. Now that she’s in the hospital, we must make the most of her.”

Hur! Bai Muchuan chuckled and held her hand.
