Chapter 43 (1/2)

How strange…

Her touch did not feel as despicable anymore.

And his heartbeat inexplicably increased.

“I… I didn’t do it on purpose…” Yan Nai’s voice faded into a whisper. He didn’t dare meet Xiang Yi’s gaze as he lowered his brows, the fragments of hair on his forehead blocking his translucent eyes.

Xiang Yi realized that the boy was scared.

Forget it, it was enough to scare him for a bit. The pretty little brother can have the privilege of being forgiven and loved.

“Are you hungry?” she asked.

“Nope.”

Before he could finish speaking, Yan Nai’s stomach grunted in an untimely fashion.

The handsome face with a bit of baby fat immediately turned bright red.

Xiang Yi’s lips curled up. “What do you like to eat? After we have picked kumquats, I’ll make an additional meal for you.”

Yan Nai’s eyes were glowing… Such amazing things exist?!

Half an hour later.

A hot steaming bowl of rice noodles was placed in front of Yan Nai.

The rice noodles had been made by Xiang Yi beforehand. They were smooth and white, the texture al dente. Taking into account Yan Nai’s preference for spicy and sour foods, she had boiled some fragrant meat sauce to top it off and mixed it with refreshing side dishes of green vegetables, filling up a large bowl.

Yan Nai wolfed down the dish happily.

“It’s okay if you can’t finish,” Xiang Yi said. Her biggest pet peeve as a child was that she couldn’t leave leftovers when eating over at other people’s homes since the elders liked to fill her bowl with various dishes. The feeling of eating even when you’re full was a painful memory.

Putting herself in his shoes, why would she make it so difficult for the child?

Yan Nai raised his head from the bowl that was larger than his face, his mouth glistening with grease, and showed a shy smile.

…Leftovers? Impossible.

He actually wanted another bowl.
