Chapter 165: Re:Generation (1/2)
The last few steps were hellish, to say the least. Even with the complete Pain Nullification Skill— credits to the System, of course— I still felt pain in my internal organs. The pressure that came all at once was so overwhelming that I felt like all my organs were crushed to a Pulp. Regardless, I managed to clear the remaining few steps. As someone with the current cultivation level of someone in the higher Ancient Realm, I can't believe that the pressure was so unbearable. I don't think that someone who's as strong as White could survive such an oppressive Qi Energy Ladder. I mean, I only ever managed to do it thanks to the System basically doping me with the Pain Nullification Skill.
Time remaining 00:01:23.31
By the time I reached the top of the Void Tower, my brain decided to shut itself down for some reason. In a split second, I lost consciousness and I had no idea what happened to me. Fortunately, I heard some sort of beeping from afar, waking me up in the process.
It was the System and Hui-ying.
”Yongrui, you have to get out of here! Stand up!” She coaxed. For some reason, I imagined her beside me, shaking my shoulders in an attempt to wake me up. ”You can't stay here.” She repeated.
”Right right, I'm awake. I can't see anything though. I think my eyes were crushed as well due to the pressure.” I responded, shaking my head.
Gathering all my strength towards my knees and the balls on my feet, I literally pushed myself to stand up. I wasn't breathing anymore since my lungs were crushed to a pulp as well. I don't even know how and why I'm still alive. Even though I'm already a rabid human, I don't think a raid human would still survive after experiencing what I'm going through right now.
I whirled my head around, trying to sense where the Memory Fragment was. Wherever it is, I have to find it as quickly as possible so I can finally get out of here. ”Hui-ying, do you have any idea where the Memory Fragment is, right now?” '
”Yes, it's that orb in the center of the room. Just get it and then we're out of here.” Hui-ying didn't waste any time explaining everything to me since our time is about to run out. A moment ago, she was trying to force me to give up on the climb but now that we're here, she had no choice but to support me. I mean, my decisions could very well kill the two of us. I'm guessing she was just being considerate and patient enough.
Thanks to the little Qi Energy I used to cover the entire area, I easily found the orb that Hui-ying was talking about. It was the size of a tennis ball and it felt like it was made out of metal. There was a small trace of Qi Energy inside it.
”Right, now let's get out of here,” I said, reaching out my hand and grabbing the Memory Fragment in the middle of the Void Tower. Without further ado, I dived towards the center part of the tower where there isn't anything blocking the way. While the clock ticked, I was free-falling downwards towards the first floor of the Void Tower/Dungeon. If I happened to reach the first floor without dying, then everybody would notice me and pull me out of the tower as fast as they could. But if I die, then I guess it's over. I won't have to suffer any longer in this forsaken world.
The air brushed against my cheeks and pushed back my hair as I accelerated downwards. They said that gravity is one of the major forces of the universe... now I know why. If I were a normal person, then there's no way I could've fought against the gravitational pull of the world. I tried to scream as death loomed in front of my body but there was no scream emanating from my throat. Either I was already completely unable to hear, or I completely lost my voice. I'm guessing it was the mixture of both.
Kablam!
Crack!
Crack!”Yongrui!” I heard a distant voice from afar before I completely lost consciousness. But before I did, I managed to put the Memory Fragment in my Storage Ring for fear that I'd lose it.
