Chapter 217: Serpentine Devils projection. (1/2)

The resistance was an organization that no one except the highest-ranking authority in the magician world knew about, not even the children of the four great families. Elliot didn't know about it, either. However, Theodore was a part of it, so were the inhabitants of the world he came from years ago. Lastly, no one, including the person in question, knew that Elliot possessed the mark of the resistor, a type of identification number that already made him a part of the resistance!

”As a member of the resistance, I am willing to give up my life for the cause.” One of the four elders' said. He had long, white hair. Accompanying his elderly features was a beard and a mustache of the same color shaped like a bull's horn. He had a hunched back, but the aura of a king surrounded him, making him look no less than a majestic person.

”I believe the same goes for the rest.”

His gaze landed on the three elders opposite to him.

The three elders nodded, and one of them said, ”Although he is not the child of providence, the one who was chosen by planet Lorena's continental will, he is by means no worse than him. Saving him and making him become a member of the resistance would be worth our sacrifice.”

”You can count this old man in too.” The third elder said, ”It's been a long time since I last exercised by sore muscles.”

The four elders looked at instructor Leonardo and said in a calm, unshaken voice, ”Lord of Twilight, you're the one leading us. Whatever you decide, I will follow without any hesitation, even if that means stepping straight into a pit of fire.”

”Good!”

Instructor Leonardo smiled and then looked at the projection of the ongoing battle on the screen once again.

They weren't sure about it, but the thing was, Elliot, didn't need their help.

Inside the ancient settlement of the soul race and in the center of the eternal snow zone, Tyler Barnes chanted the lines necessary to activate the ritual and summon the serpentine devil.

”Great Serpent of Endless Vitality, the cause of all plague and the harbinger of devastation, hear the call of your pious believer and lay your gaze on me.”

From the chant, Elliot managed to determine that vitality and poison were two of the evil god's divinity. Although Elliot wasn't sure what divinity was, concluding that it was something closely related to the power of blessing others wasn't hard for him. The serpentine devil was able to bless because it possessed divinities. Is there a way to steal them? Elliot wondered as he silently waited for Tyler to finish chanting.

Tyler Barnes didn't say any other words as if waiting for something to happen. A couple of seconds after he had finished speaking the first verse of the demonic chant, an overwhelmingly intense pressure descended on Elliot and the beasts behind him.

The pressure was so intense that the beasts nearly kneeled. As Elliot looked at that, he couldn't help but say, ”Fall back.”

He didn't want to involve others in the upcoming fight, and it would be troublesome if he had to protect them while fighting the serpentine devil's projection, so he ordered them to go away. Oliver Charlotte and the beasts could tell that something terrible was coming and that they would get squashed to death if they stayed here, so they went away without questioning Elliot's decision.
