Chapter 140: The History of King of Kings (2/2)

He focused his eyes on the small mountain-sized bronze statue, scrutinizing it with his eyes. It was a statue of a man riding a horse with three tails, a pair of wings, and a horn on its head.

”Isn't this a unicorn?” The moment his eyes laid on it, that's the first thought that popped up in his mind.

After circling it and reaching the back of it, he saw a jade tablet with a few words on it. Of course, he couldn't understand them as they were written in the language of the spirit race, one he wasn't familiar with.

However, when he finally used the power of his right eye while looking at the words, a small amount of information became a part of his memory. Now the words on the archaic tablet made sense to him.

To say he had understood the language of the spirit race was wrong. He could neither speak it nor write it. He was only able to understand the words on the tablet and make out what they meant to convey. It was the same as having no eyes, being unable to see what one's love ones look like, but knowing said persons loves them. It was a matter of the heart, something along the line of spiritual.

”I am the King of Kings, one above all, the slayer of dragons and the wielder of the demon-slaying sword. I've never bowed my head to anyone! Although I came from lowly origins and was only a mere spirit, with my talents and wit, I outsmarted everyone I came across, surpassing everyone in my world and eventually heading into the stars.

”The world outside was in awe of my strength, and I walked unfettered with the intent to bound the endless, hoping to one day hold the universe in my palm.

”However, I was too ignorant! The terror of what lies in the universe was far beyond what I could ever imagine. My ignorance became my downfall. I fell from grace. My conquest to conquer the universe ended after a dream of a millennium. Light in the Dark, why did you have to be born in the same era as me? But then again, I don't blame the heavens nor complain about what was fated.

”If you weren't there, in those times, who among the stars could have stopped them?

”Although you won against me, I hold no hatred, only an endless regret.

”A thousand years of hatred as if a dream of millennia, only then did you find the joy of life.

”I, who have been indulging in it since my birth, have no right to complain about your victory.

”I say this in my last breath with my own hands pointing a blade to my neck. If there's a life after this one, I hope to remain as a happy toad in a well if that's what it takes to never come across you.”
