Chapter 125: Abused Statue (b) (1/2)
”What about the invaders and the winged spirits? Who are they? And what happened to your world? Is this planet the winged spirit world? Or maybe another planet?”
Elliot asked a bunch of questions.
However, he was only met with disappointment.
”I can not say anything about something that's not related to this trial.”
The statue's words came as an extreme disappointment to him, and he couldn't help but feel low.
He sighed, ”I understand.”
”Do you have anything to say?”
Elliot nodded his head and immediately asked the most important question. ”So, what do I need to do to pass this trial? Defeat you?”
Since this was a trial, there was bound to be a task that he needed to complete to pass it.
The statue shook its head, and then said, ”Human! You've already proven yourself worthy by surviving my attacks and passed this trial. According to the rules of my creator, the Saintess of the Winged spirits, I should let you go to the next one. However, it has been too long since I last fought. Almost a millennia. To me, who the saintess created for the sole purpose of killing the ones invading the winged spirit world, fighting is all that matters. As my luck would have it, before the last thirty days of my life, destiny has brought you here. So, let's fight till one of us can no longer move.”
”Do I have any say in this?” Elliot asked.
He wanted to know if he can refuse to fight him or not.
”You can refuse if you want to, it's entirely up to you.” said the statue by using its seventh magic matrix mental communication.
”Do I get anything from fighting you?” Wondering whether he would get a reward for doing extra work, Elliot asked about it from the only one that could give him an answer.
”If you lose, you'll lose your life. But if you win, you'll get a lot of treasure. The choice is yours to make. Are you brave and confident enough to fight me to get unbelievable treasures, or would you pull back because you're afraid to die?”
Afraid? He wasn't afraid!
”Let me think about it for a few moments.”
Of course, he wasn't going to directly come to a decision.
He needed some time to think.
After considering whether he should fight him or not for a few moments, concluding that he could use his divine matrix to defeat him, that agreeing to fulfill the dying warrior's wish would net him a handsome reward, Elliot decided to fulfill the dying warrior's wish.
”Your will to fight till your last breath is admirable and has managed to win over my heart. I am willing to fulfill your last wish. Come at me, warrior! Let me give you your last defeat!” Elliot said with a smile while feeling happy and excited.
”Good! Good!” The statue took his words more seriously than his fellow magicians as it considered him his equal and respected him for his strength. ”Brace yourself!”
In the very next instant, the eerie glow in the humanoid statue's eye intensified and permeated the dimly lit area near it, turning it three shades darker.
It opened its mouth wide, and Elliot saw flashes of silver inside of it.
