Chapter 60: The awed examiner! (1/2)
”Yes, I am done,” Elliot said while looking at her deeply, almost as if he was saying, now, do your job and verify it!
She began by using the energy control technique to direct some of her magic energy out of her body and into the anti-gravity meteorite. The moment the magic energy touched it, it began floating above the surface of the table, vibrating ever so subtly.
Oh My God!
Johanna felt even more shocked when she saw that it's indeed a never-before-seen anti-gravity material that defies gravity when a magician pours magic energy into it.
She then read the information on the sheet, and it took her several minutes to verify all of them, and in the end, she found out that all of them were true.
Elliot didn't only tell her the way to use this item but also gave her its name and its history, adding salt to her injuries. And it was all true!! She regretted taking him lightly and showing him a resting bitch face. She regretted it too deeply.
In Xavier, although magicians and alchemists were highly respected by the masses, the families, higher-ups of the association, and beauties like Johanna still valued and desired appraisers who could perfectly appraise artifacts, even if only once.
Many forces would undoubtedly seek after an alchemist as talented as Joker, enticing him to join them by offering him a large sum of magic coins and other deals.
The appraisers are rare, almost like a needle in a haystack, and have a high position in society. After all, the requirements to become appraisers are pretty strict.
First of all, a person needs to find books and ancient records about the ancient civilizations of Xavier, and finding them is far harder than climbing hundreds of mountains and reaching the Magic grandmaster evolutionary stage, and even if one manages to find these books, they still need to decipher the language, which usually takes years or more than a decades, even if thousands of people are working on it. So, a normal person has no way of gaining enough knowledge to correctly find out the uses of an artifact and also its name and history. The only ones who could do so are people with a huge backing and a lot of wisdom.
Joker undoubtedly has a lot of knowledge about artifacts, so, he is either a part of a huge force or a powerful man himself, at least that's what Johanna said to herself.
”Congratulations mister Joker, you're now an honorable ranked appraiser of the artifact gallery. Here's your badge and the 15000 magic coins you earned.” Johanna announced the result to him and Lisa and also handed over a badge and a pouch to him.
She continued, ”And I would also like to apologize for my bad behavior and my inability to believe in your words. If you feel like I deserve to be punished then please don't hesitate to do so. You may treat me as you like, but please don't think badly of our artifact gallery.”
The ones who successfully decipher ancient records and increase their knowledge of different artifacts and objects become appraisers. They are few and rare. Because there aren't that many appraisers, most artifacts are left to eat the dust as their owners don't know how to use them and would never know the way to use them unless they seek the help and guidance of an appraiser. Furthermore, since artifacts are valuable and knowing how to use them is a big deal, appraisers all have an honorable position.
