Chapter 44: Killing Rogue Magicians (1/2)
John Crimson could control the movement of his eyes and watch whatever each of his magic eyes saw, irrespective of the distance between them. The only downside is that the further away the magic eyes are from him, the more magic energy gets consumed by his magic matrix in order to control their movements and witness what they saw.
”Hey, how long will it take for you to find their hideout?” Lisa said, looking at John.
An instant after she said those words, John's eyes brightened in a Sapphire blue light as the images of a large group of humans, who were sitting in the center of a clearing surrounded by trees, popped up in his mind.
”I found them,” John said in a low voice filled with joy.
”Finally,” Lisa said, feeling a bit relieved to know that he has found the hiding spot of the criminals.
”Where are they?” Theo asked, anticipating John's answer.
”They are resting in the center of a clearing seventy-nine meters to our right,” John said as he pointed towards the east direction of the woodlands.
”Did they notice your magic eyes?” Elliot asked as he looked at John.
John shook his head, signifying that they didn't notice him, and said, ”I made sure to keep the movement of my eyes as discreet as possible, and there's no way for the rogue magicians to notice them. After all, they are hiding in the thick cover provided by the leaves of the trees.”
”Is the road to there safe?” Theo asked, wondering whether or not they need to move discreetly to get to the clearing to their right.
”The coast ahead is clear of all monsters,” John said before motioning them to follow him to the right side of the woodlands.
John rushed forward to the right, and Theo, Elliot, and Lisa followed behind him in tow. They tread on the grassy ground with a lot of uneven surfaces, moving past trees like gusts of wind as they stepped closer to the criminals, who were resting in the center of the clearing just several meters away from them.
After reaching a spot thirty meters away from them, John motioned them to take to the trees since walking on the grassy ground meant stepping on dry leaves that were making crunching noises, something might alert the rogue magicians.
They nodded their heads, signifying that they understood his signal. They put strength in their feet, leaping up to the limbs of the trees. After that, they jumped from one bough to another, moving past trees after trees, closing up on the criminals.
They were all magicians and a few times powerful than humans, so performing such a feat wasn't too hard nor easy. However, they were able to do it without much difficulty. Courtesy of the hard training they had pulled themselves through throughout the years.
After reaching close to the clearing, they carefully hid within the covers provided by the trees. Then from their concealed position, they furtively peeked at the criminals through the small openings between the bundle of tree leaves.
Although they were only a few meters away from each other, the rogue magicians didn't notice them. After all, the trees surrounding them from all four sides greatly obscured their visions, and the teenage magicians used this to their advantage, using the thick trees to camouflage themselves.
While taking cover behind the thick trees and peeking a glance towards the rogue magicians with his God's Right Eye of Wisdom, Elliot found out about the strength of each of them.
