Chapter 39: Trapped (1/2)

Meanwhile, in a very dark place with all sorts of eerie vermin and creatures roaming about, there was a boy tied to a large stone with some web-like strings, apparently made out of grey-colored saliva.

The boy was unconscious, and his legs were bloodied and in pretty bad shape to the point, it could make people wonder if he could even use his legs anymore.

However, only those who knew him would know that his legs were already disabled, and it wouldn't make much difference to him.

Still, since those legs were a part of his body, the blood loss had left him in a pretty bad shape internally.

The only reason his chest was moving up and down to breathe was that he was unconsciously holding on to every last bit of his will to stay alive.

However, he had no idea that a strange venom was flowing through his blood to keep him from dying.

*Kreee* *Kree*

A couple of Dreadlings from before, the Jawfiends were crawling about the whole place, circling around Arion as if they were waiting for something or someone.

”Ughh…” Arion stirred awake after some time but felt sluggish and fatigued throughout his body.

He strangely wasn't feeling any pain and blinked a few times to clear his blurry vision.

However, his vision was very dark except for a faint pink light illuminating the place he was in. He saw that those pink lights were coming from some strange pink crystals embedded on the walls.

However, right now, he wasn't in the state to overthink about it.

”Oh no…” His heart raced when he came out of his confused state and remembered what happened just before he lost consciousness.

He was bitten in the legs by a pair of Dreadlings and dragged away underground.

*Kreee* *Kree*

The screeches of the Dreadlings made his heart almost jump out as he remembered the terrifying experience he had before and took a good look around to see where he was, why he was stuck in some sticky cocoon-like thing and how many Dreadlings were surrounding him.

To his shock, he spotted dozens of Jawfiends crawling about without paying any mind to him. These were only the ones near him since he wasn't able to see what was farther away due to how dark it was.

'Is this an underground cave or something…Haa...why did I even try to play the hero...it's not like me at all...' Arion tried his best to calm down and think things through.

At least for now, he was glad that he was still alive, no matter how astonishing it seemed. But then again, seeing the Jawfiends around him, he wondered if being alive was indeed a good thing.

However, that did not mean he stopped thinking of a way to escape. He didn't care why he was alive or why the Jawfiends didn't kill him.

All he knew was that he had to get out before he ended up as food for these flesh eaters.

But his body was tightly fastened to the sturdy stone that he felt as if he would lose his consciousness again if he exerted too much strength.
