Chapter 2084 (1/2)
The most famous social insects on earth are, of course, ants and bees. In addition to them, some wasps and termites are also gregarious.
Many people think termites are also ants, but different colors? It's like the black ant, the red ant?
In fact, termites are ”cockroaches” of Insecta and ”Hymenoptera” of Insecta. The gap between the two is not too big, because in this way, compared with ants, termites and cockroaches are more closely related.
The environment of the earth is unique. Any strange creature in the universe can find similar ”relatives” on the earth, and the Zerg are no exception.
There are, of course, subtle differences. For example, there are three characteristics of social insects on earth.
The first is flexibility. The nest can adapt to the changing environment at any time.
It may be the external environment, such as flash floods, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions and so on. It may also be internal changes, such as the sudden death of the queen ant, the outbreak of ecological crisis in the nest, and so on.
However, a mature and complete nest will always have a way to deal with these situations. Their sociality makes up for the weakness of individual strength, and can avoid the environmental changes that are fatal to most insects.
The second is the robustness of the nest. Even if the individual fails, the whole nest still completes the task.
It is also an example of ants. They sometimes prey on some large insects as food, such as scorpions. Individual ants are not worth mentioning for scorpions. They can kill a large area at will.
However, as tens of thousands of ants swarmed up one after another, the Scorpion will eventually be bitten by the weak joint of the shell, and finally die of formic acid poisoning.
Some people may have seen ants crossing a river. They will form a ”ant ball” to wrap the queen and eggs in the center. Outside, workers' bags form a protective layer. This kind of ant ball can cross rivers and rivers. It is more common in the seasonal flood areas of African grasslands.
The workers on the outer layer must be dead in the end, but the ants on the inner layer will be protected to keep the nest going.
This is that after the nest set a collective goal, the individual's life and death have been ignored, only for a goal of collective efforts.
The third point is the difference between the earth's social life and the alien Zerg.
Social insects on the earth have ”personalities”.
you can't as like as two peas in a nest or bee nest, though worker and worker bees are not even tools, they can actually be viewed under microscope, and if they take their genes, each is different.
Social insects on earth are thoughtful. They use pheromones and body movements to communicate, listen to commands, and act in concert.
The nest is the main body of their service. Every insect lives for it. The individual is not worth mentioning. The queen bee is replaceable because it is only a reproductive machine and an important part of the population.
However, these characteristics do not hold up on the alien Zerg, just like someone is bothered. Most of the worker bees in them are printed from the same mold. There is no difference between them. They are purely flesh and blood reproduction.
