Chapter 67 (1/2)

Azkaban, also known as Azkaban prison, is a prison on an island in the middle of the North Sea. It was built in the 15th century and has been a wizard's prison in England since 1718.

Through some specific spells, Azkaban is hidden in the Muggle world and cannot be drawn. It may have used the traceless stretch Mantra (or something similar) inside to make sure it can accommodate all the criminals in Britain.

The fortress was built on a lonely island in the vast sea, but it didn't need high walls and sea water to keep people away, because prisoners were imprisoned in their own minds, unable to evoke a sense of happiness. Most people go crazy in a few weeks.

The reason for this madness is because of Azkaban's guards.

Dementors!

Dementors are not only non-existent creatures, but also dark creatures. They are regarded as the ugliest things in the world.

Dementors feed on people's happiness and, therefore, make those close to them feel depressed and desperate. They can also absorb people's souls and turn them into a state of walking corpses, leaving only a pair of ”empty bodies”.

Therefore, Dementors are also said to be ”demons who take in other people's souls.”.

The island where Azkaban was built never appeared on any map, and its interior space was magnified by magic.

Azkaban started out as a fortress inhabiting the evil wizard who called himself exsist. The wizard lured Muggles to his island and tortured them to death.

After the death of exsist, the hidden Charms he used on fortresses and islands failed. Only then did the Ministry of magic know that there was such an island.

At that time, it had become a haven for a group of Dementors.

The Ministry of magic had considered destroying the fort, but they were afraid that the island or its Dementors would retaliate against them. Therefore, the proposal was not accepted.

Since then, the island has been abandoned for many years.

After the entry into force of the International Security Act, it was found impractical to use small wizard prisons, because prisoners who wanted to escape often made conspicuous sounds, smells and lights. As a result, the Ministry of magic began to plan to build a special wizard's prison in the remote khidri islands.

However, after Damocles rolle was elected Minister of magic in 1718, he insisted on using Azkaban as a prison, because he believed that the island's Dementors could act as guards, saving time, money and energy.

Despite opposition, the plan was put into effect.

Azkaban has always played the role of a prison in the magical world because there are few prison breaks and violations of secrecy laws.

To sum up, Azkaban has also become a kind of awe in the magic world, which makes many witches dare not take risks and do things in violation of wizard laws.

Even people who have only seen Dementors will stay away from Dementors after experiencing the state of standing beside Dementors without the help of patrons.

Not to mention being sent to Azkaban.

But now there is one exception.

Brad is looking forward to this trip.

……

Visits to Azkaban prison are strictly restricted and only important officials of the Ministry of Magic have the right to visit their relatives. As an example, Bati crouch Sr. was allowed to visit his dying son in Azkaban because of his high position in the Ministry of magic.

But not so many high-ranking officials in the Ministry of Magic have relatives in Azkaban.

So the general right is for ministers to visit Azkaban.

But as Minister of magic, Cornell fudge naturally has the right to decide who can visit Azkaban.

He could even drop Dementors out of Azkaban and serve as his escort.

Although that will make no one want to get close to him, and he has to use the patron mantra all the time.
