-3 Chapter Fifteen (1/2)
*** Yna ***
I was left in the cold cell all night. I couldn't sleep. It was all too much. The pain. The hurt. I just couldn't handle it. I lived through it all until the sun came up. No one had visited me since last night and to be honest, I prefer it that way. I couldn't take any more pain. I was already weak and severely wounded. I didn't need more wounds. I didn't need to loose more blood.
My ears pricked up as I heard some footsteps. My heart raced. An horrible chill dashed through my bones. Was he here again? Wasn't it enough? I really didn't want anymore. The pain and wounds from yesterday were enough for me.
I heard voices. It wasn't him. Nyx was here. I am sure it is his voice. He wants to come in.
”I am sorry but we can't let you in.”
”I only want to see her. I promise you. Only for a minute. You can come along if you want to.”
”Fine but only for a minute.”
I heard the doors to the basement opened and with instinct I turned my back. I didn't want to see him. I couldn't handle seeing him. My blood boiled as I heard the footsteps stop. He was right in front of my cell. But almost immediately, I heard more footsteps and the basement door shut. I heard his voice again. Before he left.
”I told you I wouldn't take too long.”
Jerk.
I couldn't believe it. His dad really was right. He didn't feel anything for me. All he said were all a lie. I meant nothing to him. Tears clouded my eyes. My head pounded and the cell walls caved in.
The clouds exploded and the storm raged on as the trees rustled with desperation. Heavy drops rolled down the window as the entire desolate world felt my grief.
The heaven lamented along with me and every creature, living and dead, witnessed my sorrow. My head ached along with my heart. Hours rolled past, as I and the heaven sang out our lamentations.
From far away, I heard faint sounds. I heard bodies fall to the ground. I heard the cell gate opened and someone walked in. I turned my lifeless body round and looked up into the intruder's eyes.
”If you are here to laugh at how naive I was, then please leave,” I whispered with the only essence I had left in my body.
”I am not here for that, I came to explain.”
”No need for that, your dad explained everything very clearly.”
”No, it is not true. You know whatever he said is not true. Right?”
”I know, that I am stuck here because of you.”
”No, it is not like that, believe me,” he pleaded.
”So you didn't fake saving me and my grandma, is that what you are trying to tell me?”
”Yes I did, but then I realised that this isn't all your fault and you were born into this fight just like I was and everything changed.”
”Do you actually think I will believe that? I might be fooled once but it won't happen again. How could you? I trusted you when everyone didn't? I defended you on countless occasions when Uncle Eduardo rambled on how you couldn't be trusted, ” I complained, my voice raised.
”I am not messing with you, Yna. If it is not true I won't be here trying to explain things to you. And please lower your voice or it will draw the guard's attention. ”
”I don't want your explanation,” I spat, turned my body away and waited in the eery silence to hear him walk away.
”I was sent to learn your secrets and report back. But after all the we spent together, I knew I couldn't do it any longer. I came here to try and convince my dad to stop. I risked everything and came to change his mind. But it didn't work. He locked me up in a cell and headed to your house. ”
”Do you actually think I will believe that crap? ”
”I understand that it might be hard to believe what I just said but please trust me and follow me.”
”And why would I do that?”
”Because if you don't, you will die and all those who died because of you would have died for nothing. This is the only chance if escaping so please follow me now before they realise anything.”
”Fine, but not because I am stupid enough to believe you but because I need to escape.”
”Fine, whatever. Get on this,” he said as he wheeled in a wheelchair.
”I am completely capable of walking,” I spat out.
