Chapter 42 - AM I A SUSPECT? (1/2)

”Did Miss Luo's family like the presents?”  Amy wanted to know if her hard work paid off.

The big boss scowled, obviously very unhappy.

When they arrived at their destination,  Jinghan hopped off the car but hesitated to move forward.  He rounded the car and opened the trunk. He felt wounded that she disagreed to give these items to the Lacroix Family.  It only meant she wasn't seriously considering in making their relationship permanent.  To her,  everything was fake so there was no reason to send valuable gifts.

Convincing himself that he really needed to work hard,  he put other thoughts away.

Pointing to the chest box containing a set of calligraphy, he instructed, ”Send this to Antoine Lacroix. Next week is his birthday.  The rest,  store them at home.”

”Yes, boss.” Amy readily agreed, feeling unhappy.  Yesterday,  she had to fly across the country just to personally retrieve them. Yun Jinghan owned them but he sent them to different museums to be displayed for the time being.

It was an arduous task. From discussing to cancel the contract to personally transporting them here.  Even with the protection of the guards,  she was worried someone would jump behind her and take these precious items.

Recalling that she went against this idea in the first place,  it was the only thing that made her happy now.  If her boss listened to her in the first place, then he wouldn't have wasted money and paid the fee for breaching the contract.

Judging from Miss Luo's character, she wouldn't easily accept this idea.

Ignoring that—I – told – you –so – expression on her face, he went on.  ”Tell B1 to send me information about the Han Family.”

Then, he turned away, striding to the direction of the house. At the same time, acknowledging the greetings from the men lined in two rows.

Amy let out a heavy sigh.  'So it was the Han Family.'

Two hours later, Amy returned with the information Yun Jinghan requested.

…..

”You paged me?” Luo Jingyi wandered to the reception after hearing her name being announced at the PA system minutes after separating from Xu Wei.

The receptionist smiled warmly and pointed to the lounge across the hospital lobby. There were two men standing there. Luo Jingyi got to understand why the two receptionists were blushing. One of two was strikingly good-looking.

”Dr. Luo Jingyi?” The man who was wearing a leather jacket showed his identification to her. His name was Jin Ru.

”Yes, that's me.” She confirmed and ushered them to sit on the curved sectional sofa by the window.

Sitting down,  Luo Jingyi's gaze lingered on Jin Ru because he looked exactly like someone she knew so well in her last life.

Clearing his throat,  Jin Ru started.  ”We are investigating the death of Mao Huizi. We would like to ask a few questions.”

The name didn't ring any bell in her head but still, she gave a nod.

Jin Ru showed her a picture on his phone. ”Do you know this man?”

Luo Jingyi shook her head on the side. She'd never seen that person.

He frowned.  ”Are you sure?”

”I'm very certain. Should I know him?”

Jin Ru ignored her sarcasm.  ”He was found dead in this place.”

Seeing her old address, she informed them calmly. ”That's my old apartment. I sold that a year ago.”

”But this property is still listed under your name.”

It was more of a question than a statement to Luo Jingyi's ears. Her forehead creased. ”That can't be right. I've let my agent handle all the paperwork.”

”Do you have your agent's information?”

”Give me a second.” Luo Jingyi took out her planner and leafed through it. Finding the details, she wrote them on the page she tore and handed it to the man.

”Check it out.” Jin Ru ordered his partner.

When the other man distanced himself to make a phone call, Jin Ru continued questioning her.

”Where were you on Tuesday between 11 am to 4 pm?”
