Chapter 391 - No matter what (2/2)
”I was playing. But you didn't seem to be paying attention at all. I thought this would cheer you up, yet it backfired, huh?” Kazuya said with a sigh.
Her gaze softened when she heard his words — trying to cheer her up again? He's always doing these things for her.
She shook her head. ”No, it's not your fault. It's mine. Lately, I've just had a lot on my mind is all,” Lyn said with a weak smile. So many things keep occurring.
”Say I heard that you recently made a grand speech. What was it?”
”Well, it was, 'To all new knights. I welcome you here. The castle is undoubtedly magnificent, and I'll guarantee you'll make the best of your time here. The memories you'll create in this place are ones you'll never forget. There ones that will last a lifetime. Though they'll be filled with joy, anger, and sadness, their ones you'll undoubtedly treasure, this will be the first time for me, making this speech. Next year, who knows what position I will be in? However, I want to make this final year the best year ever. We're all going to create brand new memories alongside each other.
Even though I'm the Princess, please don't hesitate to come to us if you have any trouble. I know some of you are worried of the recent attacks. I know how that feels since I, too, had once been scared of them before I came here. You all have it though the desire to get stronger more than anyone else. You all have it — the will to protect everyone. I've watched countless people grow stronger and surpass those of the original members, though we're all friends here.
I want you to all think of us as your rivals too. Though you aspire to be like us, don't dwell on admiration. Your, your own person. Your individual self is important to make it to the top. Let's all have a good year and welcome.'” Lyn recited.
Even now, the words she said not too long ago resounded in her heart. The speech she said to the new knights before she stayed with her brother.
”In all honesty, though. I'm baffled, and even now, there are still loads of things I can't do. I'm clumsy and a screw-up. Sometimes I misunderstand situations and can cause so many people to be in pain. I've said it before to you, that I don't like myself. Everyone else calls me cute, cool, noble intelligent.
But I really can't see it. I can't see myself as cute. I don't think I can sing and dance or do anything right like everyone keeps making me out to be good at. The situation with Rhys right now too. I want to sort things out with him again. However, he can't accept being near me anymore,” Lyn paused, ”Sometimes I wonder. If it's okay for me to still stand in this position.”
Is it truly okay for her to stand in this position? For her to stand in a position where she is in charge of the lives of so many people? When she has powers this dangerous? Her thoughts broke off when Kazuya clasped hold of her hand. A tender expression appeared on his face, ”Why would anybody stop you?”
”Kazuya..”
”I'll be here for you, no matter what happens, Lyn.”
