Chapter 357 - Where does your heart lay? (1/2)

”Do you truly understand what it means to be the Queen Lyn?”

Lyn laughed softly, ”You don't have to baby me, I know of course.” Would she really take such reckless actions if she didn't know? ”But, if I don't take the throne. No, if the throne doesn't end up in mine and brothers hands. Civilization as we know it will cease to exist.”

”Is that why your trying so hard?”

”I can't say I care much about what happens to Civilization. But, there is something I have to protect. If the Empire continues on this path, in a few years everything will be annihilated. Everybody will die, even him….and,” Lyn's gaze fell on her brother. ”And you brother.”

”That's...your..”

”Initially, I wouldn't have to do anything. There is already a perfect candidate for the throne. It would be no different if brother took it instead of me. Mother knows that too. But, I am willing to put my life on the line for the two people who care about me the most.”

For both Kazuya and brother Zepher she will sacrifice anything, even if it is herself. ”I'm that important to you..”

Another chuckle escaped her lips. ”Why do you underestimate yourself so much? It isn't a stretch to say that I waited for you for a long time. I just got tired of waiting that's all.”

But, that doesn't mean he stopped being important. Countless people have entered her life since then, but for her this man named Zepher held greater importance. Nobody could defeat the spot he had in her heart.

”What about that Rhys guy?”

Her gaze softened and she shook her head. She didn't give him a reply and he pulled her into his arms. ”Uh,” Lyn looked at him dumbfounded. She wasn't expecting this reaction from him. ”Brother, I didn't say I wanted to cuddle.”

”So, you don't want me to hold you?”

”Uh….” Why does he always look so hurt? Ah forget it. It's just a hug, she slowly nodded her head.

”I heard from the others about the crime you've been investigating. About the suicide of those elites?”

”We are already so few in number, why would they do that?” Lyn trailed off and shook her head. ”No, rather than question why they would die. Why do people scorn them so much? I understand that the majority of the elites are not so pure. However, even those corrupted individuals deserve to live.”

”Lyn, do you want to know my real identity?”

”Brothers identity?”

”I'm supposedly the first Prince of the Sun Kingdom.”

Ah? The first prince of the…

”But,” Zepher smiled bitterly. ”Because my mother died when I was younger. The councibine became the second wife, and her son suddenly became the heir. They went to such great lengths to plot against me. So the servant who was in charge of me decided to send me away when I was no more than five years old. I somehow ended up in the Mist Kingdom lands. Not too sure how it happened, but I became Queen Orthez son.”

”Why didn't your father go look for you?”

”That man probably thought this was for the best. He knew he couldn't protect me.”

What a sad tale, why does brother have to experience such grievances?

”Such squabble from elite families have become common. But, because of such things. Public impression of elite families have worsened in the last decade or so. My circ.u.mstances is only one of the few cases out there.”
